rename you throughout the semester since I famously rename people. In eleventh grade I renamed my anatomy teacher from Ms. Armstrong to B-Wizzle, guess who now walks around the halls of Camden County High School answering to B-Wizzle? I find nicknames much easier to remember and much more fun as well! Anyhow, Im Ashley Bunting but people call me Ashley, AJ and most commonly BAM (BAM is an acronym referring to my big mouth whenever I am on the field or court).

I hail from the land of Alaska, I was born and raised in different parts including Ketchikan, Kodiak, Unalaska and Sitka; I lived in Alaska until I was four and then I moved to California and Texas for a year each and then we went right back to good ol Sitka, Alaska for five more years after which we moved all over the US on six month tours each time, and then we moved Camden, North Carolina where weve been since I was fourteen years old. Camden, North Carolina is probably the smallest of the eighty-two Camdens in the US but its located on North Carolinas inner banks of the northeast, its just a small hick- I mean farm town along the coast. So now that you know where Ive lived and my name how about I tell you all about me, myself and I. Well I am first and foremost a learner! I love learning new things whether it be learning a fancy new word or learning about a whole presidential campaign. I love learning and I strongly believe you learn something knew everyday. Sports are my place of relaxation, enjoyment and learning; in high school I played soccer, basketball, soccer, softball, soccer, volleyball, soccer, soccer, soccer and soccer. My favorite sport is probably Thats right you guessed it basketball! No, Im kidding its soccer! I absolutely love soccer its probably because

its been the one thing constant my whole childhood. In high school I played for CCHS and my select team VSA Heat Blue; I play stopper and center midfield. Soccer is both my passion and my biggest enemy; in just the past four years Ive broken my ankle, dislodged four teeth, broken my jaw and nose, broken my wrist, had three concussions, and most recently tore my ACL, LCL and meniscus, oh by the way Im the girl in the straight leg brace and possibly on crutches sitting in your TuesdayThursday nine oclock class. Two surgeries later and Im still barely walking. Sports and athletics are my absolute passion though!

(Current look Im rocking) My other hobbies are surfing, sailing, and politics, studying history and making jokes. I adore five things endlessly: Spiderman, Theodore Roosevelt, corny jokes, Shark Week and the St. Louis Cardinals. In high school I was voted Best Personality, Most Likely to Succeed and Most Likely to End Up On Cops in senior superlatives. So apparently Ill end up a likeable and successful criminal? I am always making jokes because I figure if you arent having fun and being lighthearted then youre wasting your own life. I absolutely love smiling and laughing, youll catch me smiling for absolutely no reason and if you ask me why I am smiling, I will not have an answer half of the time. I hate when people are upset and I go to extremes to make people happy because unhappiness gets you nowhere in life. I am an optimist and competitive by nature. I have the craziest and most compulsive family ever! They are insane, loud, obnoxious, argumentative, opinionated, and totally irate; but I wouldnt trade them for anything. I have my parents, an older brother and sister, a younger brother and sister. My parents are Ricardo and Tamela Bunting aka (Ricky and Tammy); my dad is a retired Coast Guard Flight Instructor who now works as a civilian at the USCG Base as a aviation mechanical manager and my mom, who I call Momzizzly, works at the same base as a Supervising Contract Specialist. My older half brothers name is Trent, hes 26 and lives in Santa Barbara, CA and teaches Physics at a private school called Providence Hall. My older sister is 23, an office manager who lives in Greenville, NC and pursuing a MBA in Business from ECU, her name is Melissa and

she is my best friend. My younger brother is a sophomore in high school and hes wildly good at baseball his name is Jake, my youngest and most annoying family member is my eleven year old sister Hailey. The three things Im leaving home that I will miss most are my two animals; my very dumb but adorable Yorkshire terrier named Little Texas (after Theodore Roosevelts horse in Kettle Hill) and my sixyear-old albino hedgehogs Bull and Moose (after Roosevelts political party)! Ive had my hedgehogs since I was thirteen and my dog since I was fourteen, I will miss them so much!

Bull (left) and Moose (right) Little Texas Aside from my crazy family, Ill miss my closest friend since I moved to NC, her name is Casey; shell be a senior at Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach, VA. My other two close friends are Julie and Megan; Ill miss them so much! Theyre very entertaining and the three of us tend to cause trouble everywhere we go. We did everything together in high school, we were the three captains of the soccer team senior year and we even graduated ranked 4, 5 and 6 in our class! They are both sticking around the inner banks to go to the community college. When Im with my friends I like to do silly and fun things like pogo-stick competitions, laying around the beach and just being goofy. Im extremely excited for the next chapter of my life and all it has to offer at UNCC! I am living on campus in Lynch Hall as a member of the Leadership Journey Learning Community and can I just say that I am beyond stoked for college! Im majoring in Political Science and hope to minor in Genocide, Holocaust and Human Rights Studies, after I obtain my undergraduate degree I hope to attend law school and study international law and later I want to try human rights cases.
