Materials:
Australian Merinos Lamé
Rosina, color 61
50 grams per ball, 175 yards
4 balls
Size 7 circular needle or whatever
size is required to achieve gauge
Size 8 needle for bind off

Finished size: width = 71 inches,


length = 36”

Gauge (measured after blocking):


7 sts = 2 inches
13 rows = 2 inches

Garter stitch and lace patterns.

Abbreviations:
k = knit
p = pearl
rh = right hand side of needle

lh = left hand side of needle
st = stitch
ws = wrong side
rs = right side
pm = place marker
skp = slip 1 onto rh needle, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over
k2tog = knit 2 together
yo = yarn over
p2sso = slip 2 st onto rh needle, knit 1, pass 2 st over the knit stitch

INSTRUCTIONS:
Cast on loosely 3 stitches.
Knit 6 rows. Do not turn the work after the last row. Turn the work 90 degrees
clockwise.
Pick up and k 3 sts in the garter ridges on the edge of the piece (6 sts).
Turn the work 90 degrees clockwise.
Pick up and k 3 sts in the cast on edge (9 sts)

Note: The first and last three stitches of each row are always knit to form the garter stitch
border. This will allow the piece to lay flat.

Each rs row will increase by 4 sts. These sts will always be after the first 3 k sts and
before the last 3 k sts and before and after the center st.

Row 1 (ws): k3, p3, k3


Row 2 (rs): k3, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k3 (13 sts). The st in red is the center
stitch. You may want to place a marker to keep track of this st.
Row 3 (ws): k3, p7, k3
Row 4 (rs): k3, yo, k to center st, yo, k1, yo, k to last 3 sts, yo, k3 (17 sts)
Row 5 (ws): k3, p to last 3 sts, k3
Repeat rows 4 and 5 twenty five (25) more times (117 sts)

Begin garter st pattern


k next 6 rows, following regular inc (141 sts)

Easy lace pattern


row 1: k3, yo (k2tog, yo) repeat to 1 st before center st, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, (k2tog,

Begin final lace pattern


The pattern is Äärepitsi kiri 5 (lace edge pattern 5) from Knitted Lace of Estonia by
Nancy Bush. It is usually knit first, but by reversing the flow of the rows, you end
with the lace edge. This 10-stitch pattern flows easily.
