Power Controllers

Each house has appliances powered by AC mains. Extend the power and ease of use of many of these devices, you can by controlling the power consumed by them. One of the most common principles of power control in AC is a phase. In a phase control method is used the dependence between the time (phase) of the opening of the regulatory element with respect to the half-supply voltage and power consumption of the device. For power control uses a key element, as is most convenient to use a triac. By varying the delay (phase) of the discovery of the triac with respect to the half-wave of the mains supply can be adjusted to the load capacity almost from 0 ~ 100%. Dependence of the voltage on the load of the opening phase triac is shown in Fig. 1. MASTER KIT offers a number of kits to build power regulators. Job Description Triac power regulator uses the principle of phase control. The principle of operation of the controller is based on the change in the moment when the triac on the transition line voltage crosses zero (the start of the positive or negative half-wave voltage). At the beginning of the positive half-cycle of the triac is closed. As you increase the supply voltage (Figure 1), the capacitor C1 is charged through a divider R1, VR1. Increasing the voltage across the capacitor C1 lags (phase-shifted) from the network by an amount depending on the total resistance of the resistors R1, VR1 and capacitance C1. Capacitor charge lasts as long as the voltage across it reaches the threshold of "breakdown" dynistor (about 32). Once dynistor open (hence open and triac), a current flows through the load, determine the total resistance of the open triac and load. Triac remains open until the end of halftime. Resistor voltage VR1 is set to open dynistor and triac. Ie This resistor is power control. During the negative half-wave of the principle of the scheme is similar. The LED indicates the operating mode of the power controller.

Power regulator for 2500 Vt/220 In Power regulator, assembled from a set of NF247 will handle a load of up to 2.5 kW at 220 V AC. Appearance of the device is shown in Figure 5, and the electrical circuit diagram - Figure 6. Diagram of the device is basically similar to the above schemes sets. Added a suppression circuit C2, R3. The switch SW can break the chain charging control C1, resulting in blocking of the triac and load loss. Otherwise, operation of the circuit diagram of the device is identical sets of NF245, NF246.

The design provides for the installation fee in the case, for this motherboard has mounting screw holes 3 mm. A variable resistor used to regulate power, can be installed on the device.
