This document summarizes specifications for bolted bonnet steel gate valves. It outlines pressure and temperature ratings, requirements for valve stems, minimum body and bonnet thicknesses, special considerations for butt-welding end valves such as gradual transitions and minimum thickness requirements, bonnet neck specifications, and mandatory testing including shell pressure testing at 1.5 times the rated pressure and tests for closure tightness and stem backseating with no allowed leakage.

Special Considerations for BW valves: 1. The weld end preparation in butt-welding end valves shall not reduce the body wall thickness to less than the values specified above within a region closer to the outside surface of the body neck than tm measured along the run direction. 2. The transition to the weld preparation shall be gradual and the section shall be essentially circular through the entire length of the transition. 3. Sharp discontinuities or abrupt changes in section in areas that infringe into the transition shall be avoided, except for test collars or bands, either welded or integral. 4. In no case shall the thickness be less than 0,77 tm at a distance of 1,33 tm from the weld end.
