Sreedharan, Managing Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Dr. Sreedharan has been responsible for sphere heading a revolution in transport sector by successfully implementing the metro rail service in India. The ceremony was also graced by Mr. T. N. R. Rao former Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Chairman of Advisory Board of UPES. In addition, a large number of energy professionals and academicians attended the ceremony and formed part of academic procession. Parents of students came in large numbers from all over the country. The batch of 153 graduates and 442 post-graduates passed out after completion of their courses. 20 students from various courses also received Gold and Silver Medals for their meritorious academic performance in their batches. The highlight of the ceremony was the award of two PhDs. The doctorates were awarded to Mr. Ashsih Bharadwaj on the subject 'Business Transformation thru IT' and Mr. Mohammad Washid on the subject 'Strategic Investment Decision in Petrochemical Sector: A comparative study of GCC countries.'

4th Convocation
The students have been provided with facilities like ATM machine at the campus by Oriental Bank of Commerce. The ATM was inaugurated by the Guest of Honor Dr. E. Sreedharan.
Under the Centre for Continuing Education, 5 working professionals were also awarded with Executive MBA degrees. These professionals completed the course while working in their existing jobs in corporates like Reliance, BPCL, Schlumberger, Tytan Organics and ICI India Ltd.
This year's placement record is also very good. Over 75% students have already been placed in the best of companies in Oil & Gas, Power and Transportation sectors. The balance are going to be placed in coming months. ONGC, India's number one company has come forward to support UPES in a big way. During the Convocation Ceremony a grant of over Rs. 85.12 lakhs has been handed over to UPES. This gesture by ONGC is in recognition of UPES being accepted as part of India's development in the domain specific area of Oil & Gas.

During the 3rd Convocation the Guest of Honor, Mr. R. S. Sharma, CMD-ONGC, India's number One Navrattan Corporate had announced that ONGC will have greater associations with UPES. Following this Mr. D. K. Pandey, Director (Exploration & Production) in consultation with Schlumberger India Corpus decided to contribute in cash and kind for the development of the University, the residual proceeds of ONGC Schlumberger JRC. Continuing this Mr. S. V. Rao, Executive Director (Exploration & Production Unit) handed over the cheque of over Rs. 85.12 lakhs on behalf of ONGC Schlumberger Wireline Research Centre - JRC to Dr. S. J. Chopra, Chancellor, University of Petroleum & Energy Studies.
