Water PH Value and Contamination

Hard water contains dissolved minerals like calcium and magnesium that are picked up as water moves through the ground. Soft water has had these minerals removed, leaving only sodium. While hard water has health benefits, it can cause soap scum, dull hair and clothes, and damage appliances over time. Soft water allows soap to lather better, leaving items cleaner and saving both time and money on cleaning products and energy bills. However, soft water is not recommended for those on low-sodium diets due to the sodium added in the softening process. Reverse osmosis, distillation, and deionization can combat the sodium in soft water to allow enjoying both better tasting water and effective cleaning water.
