DESCRIPTION AND CONFIGURATIONS
XFM is the new ITALRAY digital mobile x-ray unit designed to perform radiologic examinations and
diagnostic investigations both in the department (Operating room, Sports Medicine, Emergency
Department, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics) and in the ward. XFM enriches the line of traditional
ITALRAY mobile units with all the features of a X-Frame DR system.
With this innovative unit Italray has matched the portability and ease of use features of its mobile
systems with the innovation of digital technology whose main features are mainly the optimization
of both image quality and patient dose, and, not secondarily, immediate availability of patient and
exam data throughout network, thanks to full DICOM 3.0 compatibility, for urgent data transfer to
PACS or to a DICOM printer.
Both digital technology and the high performances of XFM workstation allow Italray XFM to archive
an high number of radiological images (more than 20.000) in order to avoid operators to download
exams more than once in a day to the hospital PACS.
XFM acquires digital radiographic images by means of a portable digital flat panel detector featuring
amorphous Silicon (a-Si) technology and a Caesium Iodide (CsI) scintillator that grants for brilliant images
with extremely sharp resolution, on a wide active area with an important reduction in dose exposure. This
portable detector is battery powered and employs wireless image data transmission, thus freeing the room
from cumbersome and risky cables.
XFM is equipped with a 100% microprocessor controlled and high-frequency generator (40 kW)
with a maximum voltage of 125 kVp and maximum current of 500 mA that assures very short
exposure times, so important for the radiological examinations requested to this kind of device.
A large area 19 LCD high contrast touch screen
console, gives operator the complete control of all XFM
parameters. From patient and exam selection from RIS
Worklist to radiological parameter setting by means of
a step-by-step procedure, to image acquisition and
processing, up to exam transfer to PACS system. Pre-
programmed Anatomical Programs facilitate exam
execution and increase system productivity. The touch
screen control panel is characterized by intuitive and
large buttons (for post processing and DICOM
integration) and can be used also wearing protective
gloves.
The possibility of connecting XFM to the hospital network and its complete DICOM 3.0 integration
grants total compatibility for data storage on hospital PACS.

Once extracted from its docking-station, (right under the touch screen display), the portable digital
detector can perform examinations directly in contact with the patient, either on a bucky table or
on a stretcher and subsequently transfer the radiological image to the docking station (and so to
XFM system) both in a wi-fi mode and in a cable mode (with a back-up cable). System
automatically identifies the physical connection (cable) and automatically sets acquisition without
any operator intervention.
As an option, XFM also integrates a grid support, for safe and effective grid examinations with this
portable DR flat panel.
XFM has been designed so to obtain a compact and lightweight device, extremely easy to move
around. Thanks to the use of very light materials, and a proper study of distribution of weights on
XFM, together with large diameter back-wheels and swivel front-wheels, XFM handling and
transport are extremely easy, allowing the unit to overcome small obstacles with extreme simplicity.
XFM limited overall dimension allows the operator to have good visibility during transportation and
great mobility when passing through small and narrow spaces and elevators.
XFM high manoeuvrability permits the unit to well operate also in intensive care units, well know
for reduced space due to the encumbrance of vital devices that cannot be disconnected.
XFM is characterized with a dead man breaking system with a comfortable handle that facilitates
the unit movement and positioning. The breaking system blocks the unit in any position, just by
releasing the handle bar.
The rotating swivel arm gives the flexibility youve always wanted for a
mobile X-ray system: the new 90 degree freedom of lateral arm rotation to
the left and right, grants additional freedom when positioning the unit
during examinations.
When not in use, the arm can be completely folded and fixed, with a safety
lock, in its rest position, increasing operator visibility during transportation.

XFM DR MOBILE: BATTERY PACK FOR EXPOSURES WITHOUT CONNECTION TO MAINS (OPTIONAL)
Another important feature of XFM is the possibility of operating by means of the optional internal
Li-ion battery in addition to standard electrical connection to mains. This allows extensive operation
(to perform exposures also without power connection available) and increases its portability since
no cable will encumber system positioning.
Once fully charged, the system can perform more than 350 expositions value settled for a thorax
exposure with following radiological parameters: 80 kV, 200 mA /12 mAs).
XFM DR MOBILE: MOTORIZATION KIT (OPTIONAL)
XFM DR mobile is equipped with an optional motorization system in order to further increase the
outstanding manoeuvrability in addition to a one-handed driving experience.
Motorized XFM reaches a maximum speed of 5 km/h, this speed is controlled by a dedicated joystick
positioned on the handle bar. Handle bar is used to block/unblock the brakes.

XFM unit is classified as II b ( annex IX 93/42/CE) and its compliant to European Directive 93/42 CEE
and following editions (07/47/CEE). XFM has been developed according to UNI EN ISO 9001:2008
UNI EN ISO 13485:2004.
INSTALLATION AND WARRANTY
XFM can be installed only by authorized technical personnel that has been appropriately trained by
ITALRAY. Upon request, ITALRAY Installation Office can prepare system installation layouts
(including eventual construction/electrical).
ITALRAY guarantees its products for 1 (one) year from the delivery date. ITALRAY can offer to its
customers a wide range of service plans that will perfectly fit all needs and preferences.
