Divergent Script

*Mr. Greene enters with Ms. Dee*

Mr. Greene: So Ms. Dee youre going to be the director for the movie, honored to be of your
acquaintance.

Ms. Dee: Nice to be of help Mr. Greene.

*Ms. Trinket enters*

Ms. Trinket: Good Afternoon! Mr. Greene and Ms. Dee, youre early coming here today.

Mr. Greene: Take your seat well get started as soon as everybody arrives.

Ms. Trinket: Thank you. *Ms. Woodley knocks at door and enters*

Ms. Woodley: Good Afternoon everyone!* Takes a seat*

*Ms. Teng hurriedly went inside thinking she was late*

Ms. Teng: Hello everyone! Sorry Im so lat-* everyone stared at her* Oh Good Afternoon
everyone*slight laugh*

Ms. Greene: Dont worry about Ms. Teng, dont worry about it.

*Lastly to enter is Ms. Roth*

Veronica: Good Afternoon! *Takes a seat*

Ms. Dee: How's it going Ms. Roth?

Veronica: Life's been tricky, as always. How about you guys?

Others: *nods* *thumbs up* etc..

Veronica: Does that also mean you like my book?

All (except Veronica): Yes. (doesn't need to be in unison)

Mr. Greene: So how did this whole story came? What prompted you to write this?

Veronica: I was just simply driving around Minnesota and *poof* the plot came and I knew it
was meant to be written.

Ms. Teng: Great stories are meant to be shared, and I liked how bold you are.

Veronica: Did I mention I was a first year college student then?

Ms. Trinket: Wow. When I was in college, I used to party all night. *random dancing*

Ms. Woodley: Ms. Trinket, surely, no faction will accept you.

Everyone: *laughs*

Ms. Trinket: Ouch. But what's with these factions anyway, Ms. Roth?

Mr. Greene: Wait a sec! There should be an initiation first, wherein 16-year-olds take an
aptitude test that would help them decide which faction to enter.

Ms. Teng: Beatrice was sure lucky to be helped by Tobias.

Ms. Woodley: Speaking of Beatrice, I can't imagine not looking in the mirror just because it could
mean self-indulgence. Her mother was nice enough not to reprimand her, and even allowed her
to look at the mirror longer.

Veronica: Ahh... Abnegation. Yes, Natalie is really a kind-hearted character, and mother.

Ms. Teng: It's kind of unfair, though. You get to observe other people, yet you can't even see the
beauty of this. *moves hands circularly around the face*

Mr. Greene: Every 3 months. Won't you get startled when you see yourself by then? It felt like
you had to estrange yourself then befriend it all over again.

Ms. Dee: But's that's what selflessness is. You forget your image for the welfare of other people.

Ms. Trinket: Oh, I remember during my teen years, I keep my hair long and try out different
hairstyles. Then one day, I stumbled upon a picture of a girl who's undergoing chemotherapy.
And I felt ashamed. So the next day, I went to a salon and got my hair cut, until here. Yes, I
somehow felt *air quotes* self-indulgent before.

Ms. Dee: It's really hard to lose your hair, especially when you're a girl.

Ms. Trinket: And for that, that girl in the picture should be in Dauntless.

Mr. Greene: Yes, like Tobias. *points at Trinket*

Ms. Woodley: It was in Dauntless where Beatrice met Tobias, right?

Me. Greene: Yes. Beatrice then was called Tris, better than Stiff.

Ms. Teng: But how can someone, like Tobias, only have four fears. While I have like *counts:
1,2,3,4,5,6..*

Veronica: Should I do the Math for you? *laughs*

Ms. Teng: Ugh. I give up. I wouldnt pass Dauntless, anyway, especially the Simulation headed by
Tori.

Ms. Woodley: Same, I guess. I may not be able to stand the serums Jeanine Matthews make,
illusions and everything in between. I might just end up crying instead of trying to overcome my
fears.

Ms. Trinket: Then you might just need Erics help. He must be a really good trainor since Four is
under him.

Ms. Dee: He's not called Four for nothing.

Mr. Greene: Being fearless isn't fun at all. I mean, sometimes our fears add up to the thrills of
our lives, or misery.

Veronica: And not just that, everyone is afraid of something. Its doing what needs to be done
despite the fear that makes someone brave and courageous

Ms. Teng: Thats right! You know, back then, I was really shy. Then came the day I was picked to
report on something. I didn't know what to do because I don't like speaking in front of many
people. So I told myself, if I don't overcome that fear, then Ill be left being a nobody. Lo and
behold, Ms. Teng conquered that.

Ms. Woodley: Oh, is that why you're so talkative now? *laughs*

Mr. Greene: Plus, Tobias' life wasn't easy at all. He had to escape his previous life for a better
one. Imagine counting your father as one of your fears.

Mr. Trinket: Yeah, only Marcus, his father, would do that. Who in the right mind would hurt such
vulnerable children? We were lucky not one of us experienced that.

Veronica: Someday, when I have my own children, I'll make sure no one can lay a finger against
them.

Ms. Teng: Me too.

Ms. Dee: But then again, Four will forever be afraid of heights.

Ms. Woodley: Oh, the ferris wheel part.

Ms. Trinket: Being a Divergent sure helps both of them.

Veronica: Tris was also lucky she had Christina to support and keep her secret.

Ms. Teng: They are, indeed, the best of friends. She was the first one to even know about her
being a Divergent.

Ms. Dee: Wait, don't forget about Caleb. Just by imagining his looks, I think I'm in love. *sighs*

Mr. Greene: I could actually relate to Caleb. I have a younger sibling as well.

Veronica: Girl or boy?

Mr. Greene: Boy. When he's about to graduate middle school, I told him to pursue his dreams,
and not to be forced by anyone, even our parents.

Ms. Trinket: Where's that part again in the book? *snaps fingers as she thinks*

Ms. Woodley: Somewhere before or during the initiation?

Ms. Trinket: Oh yeah! Caleb told Tris to choose what factions she wants.

Mr. Greene: I didn't want my brother to regret his future. I want him to enjoy what he'll be
doing, like me. And I really enjoy talking to you lovely ladies.

Ms. Dee: Why is your nose swelling?

Everyone: *laughs*

Mr. Greene: So you're telling me, AMALAYER!

Ms. Dee: What?

Mr. Greene: I said you're so beautiful.

Ms. Dee: Oh please, Candor will be happy not to accept you.

Ms. Woodley: I wonder why Amity and Candor don't go along with each other. I mean, truth
and peace should be in the same page right?

Veronica: Not always, I suppose. Telling the truth doesn't necessarily mean you get the serenity
you look for. Sometimes the truth can bring chaos instead of peace.

Ms. Teng: and Honesty can either build or break trust.

Ms. Greene: Don't get me started with "Trust is like a mirror..." blah blah blah.

Ms. Teng: Ok, then, the "Truth will set you free."

Veronica: Right. Peace doesn't arrive the moment you blurted out the truth. It will only come if
acceptance have settled securedly in one's heart.

Ms. Woodley: If only Peter knows that. I hate how self-centered he is.

Ms. Trinket: Yes. Truth hurts, but he didn't have to be so mean. He only proved that some of
those who are on top doesn't deserve the position.

Ms. Teng: Makes me feel nostalgic about my school years.

Mr. Greene: Me too. Working hard isn't enough to bring success, working 'harder' will.

Ms. Trinket: Looking back, I feel no regrets about ny grades. It may not be ultra-mega-high(?),
but it brought me to where I belong.

Ms. Woodley: That's why I always tell my niece and nephew to always study, and never, never
cheat like Peter.

Veronica: Wow, you guys seem to know a lot about the factions already. But to stress further,
they have their own traits, each focusing to a sole idea. Candor: honesty, Abnegation:
selflessness, Dauntless: fearless, Erudite: intelligence, and Amity: peace.

Mr. Greene: Woah. It must be fun to attend the Choosing Ceremony then.

Ms. Teng: Id like to see the Hub, too, and each of the factions symbol.

Ms. Trinket: Hmm Glass for Candor, stone for Abnegation, Water for Erudite, Earth for amity,
and lit coals for Dauntless.

Ms. Woodley: Such really unique symbols.

Ms. Dee: So if you were to choose, which faction do you guys belong to?

Ms. Teng: ...
Mr. Greene: ...
Ms. Trinket: ...
Ms. Woodley: ...

Ms. Dee: I'll probably be in... Who am I kidding? Can I be factionless? *laughs* Im afraid of
blood and I dont want my blood dripping into those bowls with the factions symbols. Eeeekk.

Veronica: Hmm.. I've always felt like I'm Divergent, myself. *laughs*

Ms. Woodley: With that, were all youre Christina for disclosing such secret.

Ms. Dee: Geez. Who knew a book for young adults could make me feel so alive?

Veronica: Why not? We're all still young. *suggestive eyebrows*

Everyone: *laughs*

Ms. Dee: I just hope and pray we make a great movie adaptation. And I don't want any
important details to be cut out, especially the lessons.

Mr. Greene: Yeah. We should remember that everyone has a different side to them. I mean,
people arent all going to make the same kind of decision when faced with a different situation.
They are bound to come up with an answer to a problem that is different to what would they
usually do.

Ms. Teng: As Ms. Roth said, Tris is in good hands, right, Ms. Woodley?

Ms. Woodley: Should I cry now? OMG! The pressure again.

Mr. Greene: You don't have to feel scared, though. Remember, Tris is a brave girl, and we should
all learn from her.

Veronica: Thanks, guys! I can't explain the bliss I felt as I listen to your insights about the book. I
never imagined I could inspire others.

Ms. Trinket: No, no. Thank you, Ms. Roth, thank you.

Veronica: As I said, life's tricky, but it doesn't mean you'll let it deceive you. Learn to stand and
fight. Don't just settle on one value, learn if you must. Be a Divergent.
