GAUGE: 1 pattern (18 sts) makes 2 inches; 6 rows make 1 inch. Sweater is worked in one piece up to the
underarm.
Starting at bottom, cast on
Do not join, but work back and forth in rows as follows:
1st row: * Work wide stripe over next 8 sts as follows: P 1, (skip 1 st, p the next st, then p the st that was
skipped and allow both sts to slip off lefthand needle) 3 times; p 1. K 2, p 6, k 2 (cable stripe). Repeat from * 2
more times. ** Work narrow stripe over next 4 sts as follows: P 1, skip 1 st, p the next st, then p the st that was
skipped and allow both sts to slip off left-hand needle, p 1, k 2. Repeat from **

sts from the double-pointed needle. Work in pat-tern as established in 2nd row over next 12 sts, cable over next

LEFT FRONT Work across remaining sts. Turn and work over the last set of sts only, binding off 2 sts at
armhole edge every other row until there remain
Work straight in pattern until piece measures from 1st row of armhole shap-ing, ending at front edge
Bind off 18 sts for front of neck, then work straight over the remaining

BACK Attach yarn to sts of Back and work in pattern, binding off 2 sts at beginning of each row until there

inches. Next row: With right side facing cast on 2 sts, finish row. Work 1 inch straight. Next row: With wrong
side facing, cast on 2 sts, finish row. Continue thus casting on 2 sts at alternate sides on 1 row every inch

Work straight until piece measures
To shape top, bind off 6 sts at begin-ning of next 2 rows. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of each row until there
remain
Work straight until piece measures from 1st row of top shaping
Bind off at beginning of next 4 rows

Bind off remaining 32 sts.

Block to measurements given. Sew shoulder and sleeve seams. Work 1 row sc along right front edge, around
neck and down left front. Sew in sleeves.
