Summit Overview
Dear Colleague,
IQPCs 4th Egyptian Power and Electricity Summit,
formally supported by the Egyptian Ministry for Energy
and Electricity and Electricity Holding Company, will
offer IPPs, renewable energy world leaders, smart grid
technology, transmission and distribution technology
providers the earliest opportunity to learn how the
forthcoming Electricity Market Liberalisation Law affects
them all, together, for the first time. This summit is very
timely because:
- The recent Feed-in Tariff Law has now been signed which
gives investors and developers the security of knowing
exact return on investment for new power generation
across traditional and renewable sectors
- Egypt is committed to reducing energy shortages,
especially in the coming summer through the
development of energy efficiency and a smart grid work
in progress which will allow the country to look towards
becoming a net exporter of energy in the coming years
- The Electricity Market Liberalisation Law is currently
being debated and, whenever details are finalised, it will
pose a potent force for change and foster a world class
environment for private investment
- The World Economic Forum, being hosted in Cairo
this coming March, enshrines Egypts commitment to
energy security and consistency and this summit, just
three months afterwards, will afford participants an
ideal opportunity to reflect on the technology needed to
accomplish key tasks
We are therefore proud to introduce a considered
programme to address:
i Smart grid development with conventional resources
ii Enhancing grid integration for public electricity distribution
systems and networks
iii Benchmarking with other countries to ensure further
integration with the GCC grid and future integration
with Europe
iv Energy storage with a focus on renewables
I look forward to welcoming participants to foster greater
relationships and learning between Egypt and solution
providers.
Yours sincerely,
Phelim Rowe
