Statement of purpose
â A man with dreams will never be deniedâ
This is my dream as I stand at the threshold of a MS program in Biotechnology an
d it will certainly be followed by adequate action.
I have passed Bachelor of Engineering (Biotechnology) from Ballari Institute Of
Technology and Management, Visveswaraiah Technological University, Karnataka, I
ndia. My college is one of the best established and a leading institution in Ka
rnataka state. B.E. is a four year course including a project work to be done in
the last semester. It also includes all allied subjects like Biochemistry, Enzy
me Technology, Microbiology, Genetic Engineering, Immunology, Health and pharmac
euticals, Bioinformatics, Biokinetics, Genomics and Proteomics, Bioprocess calcu
lation and design, Momentum transfer, Separation Techniques, Protein insilico dr
ug design, Bioethics and Biosafety, Food and agricultural biotechnology, Environ
mental and Industrial biotechnology, Upstream and Downstream processes Etc.
At this point in my career, I seek a graduate program in an esteemed Institute l
ike yours, as I believe it will broaden my knowledge of functional area of biote
chnology, allowing me to do selected research work in the area of Biotechnology.
More specifically the degree will help me achieve my short term goal of upgradi
ng my skill in area related to the field of choice and be employed with a firm o
f global repute .While preparing for my degree, I was exposed to a vast canvas o
f opportunities and interacted with a myriad range of my degree. I realize that
acquiring skill is very important to shape oneâ s personality and equip an individu
al with the tenacity to encounter challenges with panache. I learnt that the cru
x of my area lies in the ability to understand the varied subject to the core.
As individual, I have always learned how to get up after the fall and still face
the world bravely. Things have been tough for me but nothing could desolate me
from my goal in my life and I honestly worked hard to achieve whatever I could a
chieve today. The situation those were discouraging me actually give me strength
to build my confidences back and work for the betterment of my future. These ha
ve also encouraged me to work better as far as my academics were concerned and I
would overall rate myself as fairly good student who is motivated and fueled to
aspire for higher studies and do good career wise.
I would like to pursue graduate study in the USA and get exposed work culture, t
he difference in technology involved in respect to that of India and the profess
ional work environment prevalent there having done that I would like to return b
ack to my home nation and implement what I have learnt there. I aspire to make o
riginal contributions in my relative field, make a mark and set up an example. W
ell there are the dreams that I have cultivated and have the habbit of being ind
ustrious and cheerful at the same time. I have learnt that the value of educatio
n and keeping this fact in mind has decided to pursue my higher studies, which I
always wanted to do.
I am confident that I have the ability, intelligence and skill required for a Ma
sters program and would help me to satisfy my appetite for and contributing to t
his world. I am convinced that it would furnish me with intellectual depth and b
readth along with the specialized training for career. In this ever changing wor
ld of technology, where each day sees a spate of new concepts and application an
d each passing day mark science and development more obsolete. I want to attain
the level of education and transcend new horizons in the chosen field. The vast
application and tremendous scope in the field has always fascinated me and I am
keen to continue my academic pursuit in this field. I look forward to the discov
ery and challenge of my chosen career.
