1950 Cinderella
1) The plot for the classic fairy tale Cinderella traditionally ends with a
happily-ever-after. Cinderella lives with her mother and father until
her mother tragically dies. Cinderella's father, lonely-hearted,
remarries a cold, cruel woman who has two daughters, Drizella and
Anastasia; intentionally to reform as a family again but when the
father dies, Cinderella's wicked stepmother turns her into a virtual
servant in her own house. Meanwhile, across town in the castle, the
King determines that his son, the Prince, should find a suitable bride
and provide him with a required number of grandchildren. In result of
this the King invites every eligible maiden in the kingdom to a fancy
dress ball, where his son will be able to choose his bride. Cinderella is
strictly enforced to continue with her subservient ways purposely on
the night of the ball, purposely so she could not attend and has no
suitable party dress despite ever finishing. However, her friends the
mice, led by Jaques and Gus, and the birds lend a hand in making her
one, a dress the evil stepsisters immediately tear apart on the
evening of the ball to contribute to the reason of Cinderellas absence
there. At this point, enters the Fairy Godmother, the pumpkin
carriage which takes her to the ball under the condition that by the
stroke of midnight, reality redeems itself. On Cinderellas runaway
from what was the best night she had experienced for a while, she
lost her glass slipper on the stairwell belonging to the palace. This to
which the Prince found and searched for his true love throughout the
entire kingdom. Once found the locked up slave girl, he was so
besotted by, he took her hand in marriage and so they lived.
2) The target audience for this movie would stereo-typically be girls and
young teen girls, ranging from ages 9 17. As this movie is of a
princess and a prince charming, which is usually viewed by this
demographic, it would be appropriate to say that the targeted
audience would be them.
3) The film is rated PG for mild thematic elements. For example
Cinderella's carriage almost veers off a cliff while it is turning back
into a pumpkin.
4) The original Cinderella film cost 2.9 million USD to make. They made
a profit of 261.6 million USD
5) The film was and American animated musical fantasy film produced
by Walt Disney and released by RKO, Radio Pictures but directed by
Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson and Hamilton Luske.
6) As the 1950s Cinderella is a cartoon all actors involved were the
voice of the characters. Ilene woods is the star actress that plays the
voice of Cinderella.
Ilene was originally a singer who had her own show. Later after the
production of Cinderella she was named a Disney Legend in 2003.
She retired in 1972 (aged 43)

William Phipps stared as the prince charming in the film Cinderella.

Before Cinderella he featured in a film called Crossfire in 1947; soon
after he auditioned for the part of prince charming in 1949, after the
film was produced he then stared in Five, The war of the worlds,
Julius Caesar and a numerous amount of other films. In total he
acted in 27 films between 1947 and 1954.
Verna Felton was the voice of the Fairy godmother in Cinderella, after
the production of Cinderella she continued her career in show
business as she then played a key role as knotgrass in Sleeping
beauty in 1959. She also played as Aunt Sarah in a film called the
Lady and the tramp which was released 1955. Verna Felton also
starred in Alice in Wonderland she played the major role of the
queen of hearts in 1951. Another very well known film that she was
apart of is The Jungle Book in 1967.
Eleanor Audley played the voice of Lady Tremaine during sleeping
beauty. In 1959 she was the voice of Maleficent in classic Disney film,
Sleeping Beauty
7)

Walt Disney Productions produced the film that was founded by

Walt and Ron Disney and owned by The Walt Disney Company itself.

8) Cinderella was an animated production that was hand drawn for

approximately 115,200 frames
9) Cinderella 1950 was distributed by RKO Radio Pictures, Inc.W
10) Cinderella was released in the united kingdom on July 26th 1950; in
the USA it released on 15th February 1950; Germany it was released
27th October 2005 and in Japan it was released on the 7 th of August
2008
11) Its difficult to know the amount of screens it was shown on as it was
a time period where cinemas werent around
12) As the original Cinderella was made approximately 65 years ago the
marketing techniques were very different to that of what we have
today. A key method of marketing was via posters. In addition RKO
Radio would especially advertise the Cinderella movie release date.
The New York times also advertised the Walt Disney film Cinderella
(See below) During the 1950s a very effective way of marketing
This 50 page newspaper has a 12 x 6 inch advertisement on page 33 for the opening
day showing of the famous Walt Disney animated cartoon movie 'Cinderella'.
With movies at that time usually released 1st in New York City, this could very well be
the very 1st advertisement for this movie classic in any newspaper.

90% of the film was animated using the

RotoScoping technique; by which we
mean using live-action footage of actors
to help speed up and improve the
accuracy of character animation
The Background paintings were
produced on a Watercolour majority, and
are entirely appropriate to overall soft
look of the film, this was a much cheaper
method
Techniques used to save time, and this is
most apparent at the Princes Palace
where all the guests are painted along
with the surrounding environment.

The 100 is based on a survival situation so the characters do not act the
same in real life as they have the comforts of their own home and they
arent constantly being threatened with war.
The programme has designated clear roles for each individual characters
which then makes the viewer anticipate the characters next move,

however The 100 is very unpredictable drama so it allows room for

dramatic surprises, for example when Clarke killed Finn.
