PCM BX06 INSTALLATION MANUAL

. Cabinet fixation
Before the installation, take down the four wheels from the equipment bottom. The cabinet
will be located according to the design drawing. Mark the connection holes for the cabinet (four
holes). Then move away the cabinet. And Use percussion drill to drill holes according to the
measurement of expansion bolts. you need to clean the dust inside the holes using a vacuum
cleaner. Strike directly on the expansion tube with a rubber hammer until it is completely inserted
into the ground. Put the cabinets to the designed position. Put washers and tighten the bolt. When
the cabinet is fixed, it should be stable and its vertical deviation shall not be larger than 3mm..(if
installing Cabinet on the ESD-Preventive Floor, there must be bracket.)
. Connect the power line
Power supply: -48V(36-72V)
+VBATred power cable; -VBATblack cable; F.G
yellow cable
(1)The ordinary system uses -48V DC power. The diameter of the power line
depends on the load. Usually the transect size should not be less than 1.5mm 2.
(2)Among the three-line port of the power, +VBAT is linked with -48V high
Ground and VBAT with -48V.F.G. stands for Protected Ground connected with the
ground of the room.
(3)The transect size of the ground line should not be less than 10 mm2.
(4)If there are data interfaces, measure the voltage between BX06 system and
the other ground lines of other interface data cables in the room where the
system locates after the ground lines are connected. There should be no DC or
AC voltage.
(5)The ground resistance suggested should be less than 3.Suggested resistance
in the regions with frequent thunders and lightening should be less than 1.

. Connect 2M cable(E1 cable)

(1)E1 cable connecting indication and DDF indication inside the cabinet.
There are 4 subracks in every cabinet. There are 4 E1 in every subrack. Two
of them should be connected with the upstream station. The other two E1 should
be connected with the downstream station. See the following figure for one
cabinet. For example, A(R) and A(L) in the first(upper) subrack are the
transmitting end and the receiving end. They should be connected with the
upstream station. I(R) and I(L) in the first(upper) subrack are the
transmitting end and the receiving end. They should be connected with the
downstream station.
Page 1

See the DDF-32 figure. A to H should be connected with the upstream

station. I to P should be connected with the downstream station.

(2) the method of making the coaxial cable connector
measure the cable length from the equipment to the customer DDF. Cut off
the superabundance of the cable. And make the cable as the following figure.

After hardware loop of an E1 on the side of DDF, we can use a multimeter to
do the continuity test on the side of equipment.
. Turn on the power
Measure the voltage at the port of the power line with a multimeter. Make
sure the voltage falls into the range of -48V10%,the polarity is correct, and
the protected ground is properly connected with the room ground.
Turn on the power of the equipment and the four indicative lamps on the
power plate are alight. If abnormal phenomena arise, check the system.
When the system begins self-detection, all the indicative lamps on the
DEMUX plate are on and then distinguish one by one. If the system works well,
no warning will arise.
If there is a RLS warning, check if the local 2M cable is correctly
connected.
If there is a AIS warning, check if the opposite system has started, the
opposite 2M cable is properly and reliably connected, and the transmission
equipment works well.
If there is a FLA warning, check if the 2M cable is properly and reliably
connected and the transmission equipment works well.
. PCM id plan (55 sets of PCM cabinets, 4 subracks in every cabinet, 2
cells in every subrack. See in front of the cabinet, the right cell is the
first cell, and the left cell is the second one. As an example of ALGER ESTs
upper subrack, cell address of the right cell is 1. and the cell address of the
left cell is 2.)

There are two groups of eight jumper blocks in the top right corner of the

The values of the eight jumper blocks are 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1 from the

blocks value is the value of gateway address.

(2) setting method of cell(equipment) address(Bx06)

There are two groups of eight jumper blocks in the top right corner of the
Demux board. The upper eight jumper blocks is for cell(equipment) address.
The values of the eight jumper blocks are 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1 from the
top down after their short-circuiting. The summation of the eight jumper
blocks value is the value of cell address.

. Connect the user cable

Lay the cable on demand of the subscribers.

Mark the beginning and the end of the cable before laying to avoid confusion.

The cable mustnt be left parallel with the power line by all means when laying. Resort
to protective sleeves when the cable going through walls. Take care not to destroy the
dressing of cable in the process of laying. Remain a little at the distribution frame and
the cabinet.

Cable, which needs to be mounted onto the distribution frame should be locked onto the
distribution frame according to their spectrum. The impending wire pair of each cable
neednt to be tied to the distribution frame so as not to invite confusion (eg. the
blue/white pair of the first 7 channel subscriber cable). Take care about that every path
of the pair should be tied together and its distribution frame should be well marked

Every user cable consists of sixteen audio cables. Each cable provides eight voice
channels. The audio cable is made up of two 30-line cables arranged in color spectrum
order. Plug the user line into the corresponding sockets on the back board.

Plug in SUBLINE/TLINK for phone service. Plug in 2W/4W for 2/4 line audio service.
The audio cable marked with 4WR stands for Four Line Reception whose output line is
connected with the reception port of the user equipment. The audio cable marked with
2W4WT stands for two line audio output or Four Line Transmission whose output

Page 11

line is connected with the transmission port of the user equipment.

.Check the line

With a piece of binding wire, bind the coaxial cable, power line, flexible cable and so on
to inactive frame of the chassis and the cabinet. Its better to lay the power line and the
flexible cable into the groove. Note: the flexible cable is fragile, handle them with
care. Dont fasten it too tightly when fixing the flexible cable.

All the cable should be either horizontal or vertical, and should be fastened and fixed
tightly with nylon grip or gummed tape. Lines should be parallel, no crossover or knot
permitted. At the turning points, it should trace a right angle (90). All cables must share
the same length from the distribution frame.

Check the wire on the line shelf in the same way of ordinary phone service line
checking.
