JOB PURPOSE:
Acting as the overall project coordinator for engineering activities,
internal and external, on the project. In this capacity, the Project
Engineer is responsible for the successful engineering coordination of
the Project Design or Project Implementation activities in line with the
Projects goals and in accordance with the Projects Functional
procedures and applicable standards.
JOB CONTEXT:
The Project Engineer is assigned by the Lead Engineer and is a key
member of the Project Team, reporting to the Project Manager(s) for
the specific project(s) the engineer is working on. The Project
Engineer acts as the deputy to the Project Manager. There may be
occasions on smaller projects when the Project Engineer conducts the
role of Project Manager.
The Project Engineers maintains a System or Plant level perspective
of the project, whose primary role is coordinator for engineering
activities, internal and external, on the project at a sub-system,
system or plant level.
COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:
Daily communication and collaborative working with the specific
Project Team(s) and frequent interaction with the Lead Engineer
Project collaboration with the different departments in the Projects
Organization and the wider Marafiq Organization (i.e. Technical,
Operations & Maintenance, Procurement, Facilities Planning) on
technical, financial and administrative matters
Coordination and management, where appropriate, of junior
engineers
External to Marafiq:

Effective interaction with Contractors, Consultants, if appropriate,

Skills
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
BSc or BEng (Bachelor level) university degree in relevant subject
(i.e. mechanical, electrical, industrial, civil, chemical)
Desirable, but not essential, Chartered Engineer with recognized
professional institute (i.e. CEng, PEng, CPEng)
Minimum Experience:
5 years of engineering design / project experience in an Industrial
Engineering, Construction or Process related industry
-Specific Skills:
Possess a broad understanding of the major design engineering
disciplines (i.e. mechanical, electrical, instrument & control, civil and
process
Basic experience of project development, project planning, project
management and, ideally, project contracting
Basic experience of project development and/or project
management software (i.e. Autocad, MS Project, Oracle Primavera)
Basic understanding of investment / financial management
techniques (i.e. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Return On Investment
(ROI))
Basic understanding of the physical processes of water treatment &
distribution or electricity production and distribution
Skills:
Common
English Language - Level 3
Knowledge of Operations systems- Level 3
Health & Safety Systems - Level 2
Knowledge of Policy & Procedure - Level 3

Quality Management Systems - Level 3


SAP - Level 2
Time Management - Level 3

Education
