Creasing Tools for Packaging Pros

Zünd offers a variety of creasing tools and inserts to crease different materials. Creasing can be done in Position Mode by lowering the crease wheel to a set depth, or in Pressure Mode where the pressure on the material can be varied. Different creasing tools accommodate different sized crease wheels for materials like corrugated cardboard or folding carton. The document provides details on several specific creasing tools and many interchangeable crease wheel inserts optimized for different materials.

Creasing Tools and Inserts

Selection and Applications

Different materials and material properities demand different tools. Znd creasing tools are designed to process a wide range of materials with a
variety of crease wheels. Creasing can be performed either in Position Mode or in Pressure Mode. In Position Mode, the crease wheel is lowered
to a set depth. This method is well suited for creasing folding carton. For processing corrugated cardboard, however, we recommend using Pressure Mode. In this mode, the pressure exerted on the material is variable - you can use different pressure settings for creasing with or across the
corrugation! Sophisticated crease wheel geometries permit producing creases that closely approximate those of a traditional die-cutter. Packaging
developers can let their imaginations run free and convert foldable boxes/displays from idea to reality in the blink of an eye! All Znd creasing tools
and wheels are fully integrated in Znd Cut Center.

Creasing Tool Type 1 - CTT1

The CTT1 is perfect for processing single-wall corrugated cardboard.
This tool accommodates crease wheels with a diameter of 61 mm and
a width of 20 mm. Fully supported by the cutting software, the tool produces high-quality creases with and against the corrugation, without
tearing or cracking the top layer. The crease wheels simply snap into the
holder, making them very easy to insert and replace.
Compatible with G3, S3, D3.

Creasing Tool Type 2 - CTT2

The CTT2 is a universally applicable crease tool. It accommodates a
wide range of crease wheels for folding carton, polypropylene, and honeycomb materials.
Compatible with G3, S3, D3.

Creasing Tool Type 3 - CTT3

The CTT3 is designed for processing double-wall corrugated cardboard.
The tool accommodates crease wheels with a diameter of 90mm and
a width of 28 mm. With or across the corrugation, these crease wheels
ensure high-quality results without damage to the top layer. The wheels
snap into the holder, making them quick and easy to insert.
Compatible with G3, D3. An extended insertion sleeve is available for
the use on machines with 120 mm beam height.

Creasing inserts overview

The large choice of creasing tools allows perfect creasing of a wide range of materials. The selection listed here serves as a recommendation.
The use can ultimately vary depending on material type and quality.

For cardboard and plastic materials, the best creasing quality is achieved if a creasing matrix is used as cutting underlay.
