Assessment
Students will be divided into groups. They will be given cards with different information someone might share on
the internet. They will be asked to sort the cards into piles of safe and unsafe information to share. After the
activity, the student will participate in a large group discussion guided by the teacher. Students will be given time
to fill out a worksheet relaying what information is safe/unsafe to share on the internet. The teacher will monitor
progress during small group activities and individual work.
Resources
The teacher will create a worksheet for students to do in class. The teacher will show titles of internet sites and
flash cards from actual social networking sits to determine if the information is appropriate. The students will not
need to have any technology skills to interact in this lesson.
Instructional Plan
Preparation
Students will need to know basic understanding the social media through the internet. I will group the students so
that those with prior knowledge will be assigned throughout the groups. A lesson will be taught about safe internet
use and how to identify appropriate and inappropriate information to share.
Management
Students will work in individually, small groups and then in large group discussions.
Instruction and Activities
I will give a lesson on internet safety. I will monitor small group activities and help in any way possible. The
student will be responsible for completing the work sheet and being active in group work, both small and large.
The students will be able to apply the information taught to their everyday internet use.

Differentiation
The students will be given an opportunity to participate and demonstrate the skills in the lesson. The students will
collaborate with each other in small groups. The teacher will provided one to one instruction for those students
who require additional help while others students work in groups.
Closure and Reflection
The success will be based upon their understanding of the lesson. They will demonstrate their knowledge by
completing a worksheet correctly. We will collaborate in large and small group discussion to allow the students to
give oral answers. Students will be able to apply their skills and reflect on the information they have learned by
demonstrating it online when using key concepts on internet safety.
