CHUDA FAMILY

Chuda Shugenja School [Shugenja]

The costs associated with the method of the Chudas magic can make them
less prolific in spellcasting, but their use of blood magic brings them power
honorable Shugenja cant know.

Affinity/Deficiency: Chuda shugenja have an Affinity for any non-Void Maho
spell. Select one non-Void element. You have a Deficiency for all non-Maho
spells of the selected element.

spells of a second non-Deficient element, any 1 spell of any non-Deficient
element

DAIGOTSU FAMILY
(+1 Stamina) The most numerous of the Spider by far. Great
numbers of warriors, many of whom have fallen into Taint or
succumbed to worship of Fu Leng.

Daigotsu Bushi School [Bushi]


(+1 Strength) Core Book, pg. 212
Daigotsu bushi have the ability to increase their damage against and instill
fear into their opponents during combat. The Daigotsu follow the code of
Shourido, and many of their techniques are amalgamations of different
Clans techniques.

Daigotsu Courtier School [Courtier]

Their techniques focus on the disruption of others while deflecting both
attention and blame away from them.

(Deceit), Temptation, any one High skill

ORDER OF THE
SPIDER MONKS
(+1 Reflexes) Untouched by Taint, but instead embrace the
philosophies of the Spider because they resonate with their own
desires for personal power and achievement through strength.

Order of the Spider Monks [Monk]

Untainted Spider that have peerless hand-to-hand combat skills and look to
cripple foes rather than simply disabling them. These monks are very difficult
to manipulate and resistant to magic.

Consists of men and women that have lost their identity, becoming
faceless creatures of Darkness.

Goju Ninja [Ninja]


(+1 Agility) Great Clans, pg. 280
Masters of wrapping oneself in shadow, most Goju have their identities
almost completely consumed by the Nothing.
Skills: Athletics, Kenjutsu, Ninjutsu, Sincerity (Deceit), Stealth 2, any one Skill
Honor: 0.0
Outfit: Black Clothing, Ninja-to, Tanto, 6 Shuriken or Tsubute, any one

NINUBE FAMILY
(+1 Reflexes) Minions of the Lying Darkness who seem to retain
individuality. Presumed (falsely) to have abandoned the Lying
Darkness.

Ninube Shugenja School [Shugenja]


(+1 Awareness) Great Clans, pg. 281
The Ninube are capable of dissolving the physical self and becoming shadow.
Ninube Shugenja may not inflict damage or be hurt while in shadow, and they
do not use Maho, but are very proficient in all Nothing spells.

ADVANCED SCHOOLS
Dark Paragon (Monk) Emerald Empire, pg. 207
Dark Paragons are students of the dark paths of Shourido, embracing their
sinister variant of honor and devotion. Paragons are able to eschew the
restrictions of honor to tap into his true connection to the universe.
Requirements:
Rings/Traits: At least one Trait at 5
Skills: Lore: Theology 4
Other: Dark Paragon Advantage, Honor Rank 4+, must be able to make a
melee attack as a Simple Action

Obisidian Warrior (Bushi) Core Book, pg. 250


The Spider Clans most formidable warriors, Obsidian Warriors are ruthless
and cruel and mostly free of Taint. While they are able to match or defeat the
mightiest of Rokugans bushi, most of their students never survive the
training.
Requirements:

Skills: Craft: Iaijutsu 5, Intimidation 5, Lore: Shourido 4
Other: Must survive a skirmish with an Obsidian Warrior sensei.

Dark mirrors of the Emerald Magistrates, Obsidian Magistrates are bastions
of Shourido and enforcer of Daigotsus will.

Chuda Subversives are well versed in masking the Shadowlands Taint, and
their talents are so great they are capable of fooling the kami at times.

Chuda Necromancer (Shugenja) Great Clans, pg. 282


Unparalled masters of undeath, Necromancers have a natural affinity for
creating zombies to fight for them.
Requirements: Lore: Shadowlands 3, knowledge of the maho spell Summon

Colonial Conqueror (Bushi)


Second City: The People, pg. 101
Conquerors are unstoppable juggernauts of destruction that crush everything
in their path without hesitation or remorse. They are tasked with conquering
the Ivory Kingdoms in the name of the Empress.

Daigotsu Scout (Bushi) Strongholds of the Empire, pg. 92


Daigotsu Scouts are capable of moving great distances without being seen
and have a greater affinity for stealth and speed than other Daigotsu Bushi.

Replaces: Daigotsu Bushi 2

Dark Path Sohei (Monk) Strongholds of the Empire, pg. 93


Sohei are individuals who combine all the power and ruthlessness of their
order with the strange, almost supernatural powers normally seen only
among the Brotherhood. Together, the two are an exceptionally dangerous
combination.
Requirements: Lore: Theology 3
Replaces: Order of the Spider 2

ANCESTORS (SHADOWLANDS)
Chuda Bikimi (3 points) Great Clans, pg. 283
Bikimi was a truly evil maho-tsukai who kidnapped many for necromantic
maho rituals.
Benefits: Bonuses to Stealth Skill rolls
Demands: You may not reveal yourself to an enemy

Hida Atarasi (7 points) Core Book, pg. 244


Atarasi was the first son of Hida and one of the first samurai lost to the
Shadowlands. So great was his power that those who encountered him called
him a akutenshi or dark angel.
Benefits: May use Taint Ranks to increase attack and damage
Demands: May not lose Taint or gain too much honor

Kuni Yori (5 points) Core Book, pg. 244


Kuni Yori was once a loyal Crab, transformed by Shadowlands Taint into an
undead abomination who led the Shadowland forces against his former clan.
Benefits: Bonuses to all Sincerity (Deceit) rolls and maho spellcasting rolls
Demands: No demands!

Yogo Junzo (6 points) Great Clans, pg. 283


Junzo, furious at the dissolution of the clan after the Scorpion Clan Coup,
betrayed his duty and opened the Black Scrolls containing Fu Lengs essence.
He became undead and caused much death and destruction in the Empire.
Benefits: Bonuses to Spellcasting rolls if taking the Forbidden Knowledge
Advantage
Demands: You must seek out forbidden knowledge
