Industrial visits can be arranged for the
trainees so as to enrich their practical
skills
At the workplace, the weaver may need
to work on any type of the shuttle-less
looms: Airjet / Rapier / Water Jet /
Projectile(Gripper). Further the mills
may use looms from a variety of
manufacturers. Module I is the only
module which varies according to the
type and make of the loom. The other
three modules are common for any type
/ make of loom

MODULE - II
Fabric production & Quality
1. Title of the Module
2. Module Competencies
: At the end of the module the trainee will be
able to:
Identify quickly fabric running faults during
weaving
Identify contamination and weft package
defects.
Keep the machine in continuous running.
Prioritize attending the looms stopped due
to either warp or weft breaks.

Identification of extra ends, cut ends
and entanglements of the warp threads
at the back of the loom during
patrolling.
Weft replenishment during weaving.
Fabric Design: weaves, package
defects, colour patterns and weft
feeders.
Cloth parameters: Reed count, ends
per inch, picks per inch, fabric width,
warp count and weft count.
Causes for loom stoppage, Warp
breaks, weft breaks and other loom
stoppage causes
Fabric production as per the quality

Drawing the ends quickly into the
correct drop wire, heald eye and
through the reed properly
Tying of the tail end of the running cone
with the leading end of the reserve
cone for continuous weft supply.

MODULE - III
1. Title of the Module
: Mending of warp & weft breaks
2. Module Competencies
: At the end of the module the trainee will be
able to:
Mend the broken ends by putting weavers
knot quickly.
Mend the ends and picks at prescribed
time limit
Achieve eye and hand co-ordination
Achieve finger dexterity
3. Knowledge components (Theory) : Identification of broken ends and picks,
various knots and their importance,
putting knots without slippage, effect of
warp & weft breaks on the fabric
quality,
Pick finding device and its importance,
Color sense.
4. Practical Skills
: Mending of broken ends quickly and
restart the loom, mending of weft
breaks and restart the loom, broken
picks, short picks identification, its
causes and remedies.
Practise knotting with small knots with
out slippage and lengthy tail ends.
Drawing the ends quickly into the
correct drop wire, heald eye and
through the reed within a prescribed
time limit.

Wrong drawing, wrong denting, wrong
patterns, colour mix ups and count mix
ups.
Fabric defects: Starting marks, cracks,
snarls, lashing in, reed marks, tight
warp, loose warp, selvedge cuts,
missing ends and picks, double picks,
floats, wrong ends per inch, wrong
picks per inch and oil stains.
Machine vibration, abnormal noise, and
safety devices
Fire safety and protection devices
Identification and rectification of the
fabric faults.
To practise loom restarting after every
weft break by using the pick finding
device to avoid starting marks.
