environments. Illumination visible for 48 hours when

This hard hat meets the requirements of the American
National Standard for Industrial Head Protection ANSI
Z89.1-2003, Type I, Class C, E and G.
The Glo-Mega Hard Hat features a unique formulation
designed to Glow-In-The-Dark after being exposed to a
light source. Excellent for use in dark environments, such
as night construction and mining. Illumination is visible for
48 hrs. when properly charged. To charge hard hat, expose
it for 10 to 20 minutes in sunlight for best results. It can
also be exposed to bright fluorescent light for 30 minutes.

10 Ways to Reduce
Sorbent Costs
1. Sorbent Selection
Choose an efficient sorbent. If you select a sorbent with
high capacity, you will use less, and there will be less waste
after use, reducing disposal costs. A waste minimization
and disposal cost reduction program should include
participation from purchasing, user and environmental
responsibilities to cover all PLD (purchase + labor +
disposal) factors. Consider the disposal options up front.
Can the sorbent be landfilled, incinerated, or used in
a waste-to-fuel burner?

2. Selective vs. Non-Selective Sorbent

Pick the right product for the application. To separate oil
from water, use a selective sorbent; also use a selective
sorbent to pick up oil outdoors where rain or other water
may be present. For other situations, to pick up both oiland water-based fluids, a non-selective sorbent is best.

3. Identify Needs
Take a plant tour to identify the best sorbent product for the
job. Many convenient formatsrolls, pads, booms, pillows,
rugs and drum coversare available to meet your needs.
Use a multi-format sorbent, such as 3M Folded Sorbent,
to meet a variety of needs and save on inventory.

4. Use Dispensers
Cutting to length or width needed avoids over use.
Get the cost benefit of purchasing in bulk rolls.

5. Use Sorbents to Full Capacity

To get the benefit of efficient sorbents, it is necessary
to leave them in position longer. Let them work for you
and fewer changes will be necessary.

6. Separate Fluids

7. Identify Waste Streams

Don't mix hazardous and non-hazardous waste. As an
example, mixing a small amount of chlorinated solvent
with a drum of recyclable oils will classify the whole drum
as hazardous waste and greatly increase the disposal cost.

8. Compress Waste
If a compressible sorbent is used, the volume of waste
can be reduced by compacting. Removal of fluids with
a wringer or centrifuge will give an initial reduction in
volume. A drum or trash compactor will reduce the volume
further. Since disposal costs are based primarily on volume,
significant savings may be achieved. In some areas mobile
extraction and compacting services are available.

Costs associated with use of sorbent materials are often
underestimated and overlooked. Economical use can
be as simple as using sorbent on the equipment or at the
source of the leak before it spreads across the floor.
User training is essential to change attitudes and get buy-in
for total overall cost savings.

Call your local 3M representative or the 3M technical
hot line at 1-800-243-4630 for help with product selection.
Your regional EPA office can help you find the waste
disposal service companies in your area and help you
select the most cost-effective disposal method.

Use a centrifuge to separate sorbed fluids for reclaiming

or recycling. Sorbents may be reusable. An EPA study
has demonstrated savings of 51% to 75% when sorbents
are reused from 2 to 8 times.

3M PanelSafe
Lockout System

The 3M PanelSafe lockout system is designed to reliably

isolate electrical circuits, effectively locking out the
circuit for the servicing and maintenance of machines,
lighting and equipment. This device is permanently
mounted to the dead front of a circuit breaker panel that
allows individual or multiple circuits to be locked off
simultaneously. The use of 3M PanelSafe increases safety
while helping meet applicable OSHA regulations.

Each 3M PanelSafe unit is packaged to include: 1 pin

PS-SP Spade Pin

3M PanelSafe Lockout
System Accessories

A spade pin is used to lockout on either the left or right

side of the panel when the measured distance from the
center line of the dead front to the max position on the
breaker handle in the off position is greater than 2 1/2".
Available 5 per package, or bulk 15 per package.

One Way Pin

A one way pin is used to lockout an individual circuit
located on either the left or right side of the panel.
Available 5 per package, or bulk 15 per package.

PS-SP05 Half-size Spade Pin

The half-size spade pin is used to lockout half-size (twin
or piggyback) breakers. This pin can lockout an individual
circuit by simply rotating the pin 180 for either the top
or the bottom breaker. Available 5 per package, or bulk
15 per package.

Two Way Pin

A two way pin is used to lockout two circuits directly
opposite each other. Available 5 per package, or bulk
15 per package.

Barricade Tapes
Product Description:
The Scotch Barricade Tapes 300 are not only effective
but economical as wellwith 300 and 1,000 feet of tape
per roll. One roll has sufficient length to designate a large
area. It is constructed of durable polyethylene plastic and
measures 3 or 4 mils thick, which helps prevent accidental
tearing. Bold 2-inch black characters on a bright yellow
or red background are designed to attract attention and
provide a clearly visible warning message.
