Gerade Ungerade

1) The document discusses how to determine the gerade and ungerade symmetry of molecular orbitals. It provides examples of orbitals formed from s-s, p-p, s-p, and p-d orbital overlap. 2) Comments on the post clarify that molecules without inversion symmetry, like those examples, cannot be strictly labeled as gerade or ungerade. Their symmetry is determined by the point group. 3) It is not correct to label the orbitals in the examples as g and u, as the author did, since they lack inversion symmetry. Their symmetry depends on the molecule's point group.
