ASF WELCOMES NEW
BISHOPS
Ayabulela PinzieASF President
To the members at large, more especially the leadership, let us continue
being committed to the mission and
vision of our federation with renewed
confidence in our roles as members
and leaders, to ensure that the work of
the Lord reaches or rather benefits all
the students in Campuses, I then
therefore wish to urge everyone
(member/associate or friends) to accelerate our efforts towards the realisation of our goals for bettering the
lives of the students where we operate.
Necessarily, let us draw relevant lessons
from the past years and work twice as
hard in ensuring growth of our beloved
federation .I would like to retaliate the
importance of involvement of friends in
all our operations as the federation, similarly urge all friends to be of assistance in
their respective region in pushing the
Gospel Christ.
We will also have to work effectively
and tirelessly in ensuring that the projects and programmes as set on our
various plans of action, intervenes to
the challenges that are faced by the
students in the institutions of higher
learning, furthermore forge relations
with all other stakeholders who are on
the same mission as us. Let us be beacons of hope and agents of change in
our various corners.
Once again, on behalf of the Church, the
PEC and in my own name, I wish you all
the best in the as we prepare for the ASF
conference to be held in Mooi River
(KZN-Region) and Welcome all the leaders of various regions who recently
emerged in different regional AGMs.
I would like us to reflect from the book
of Paul, 1 Corinthians 16: 13-14 Be alert
and Stand firm in your Faith, let all that
you do be done with love

Congratulatory note, to Graduates
We all like to be noticed and recognized for our accomplishments for
they can strengthen both personal and
our professional relationships. I
would like to congratulate all those
students especially An'soc students
who graduated this year (2016). It has
come to my notice that there is a lot
of those who completed their degrees/diplomas in 2015. Those who
attended ASF conference last
year July 2015 in Namibia will
remember my presentation
about time management: Balancing church life and student
life. I motivated students to
consider God first then their
studies for Matthew 6:33 reads,
But seek first his kingdom and
his righteousness, and all these
things will be given to you
as
well. I am sure my talk
helped many students when
sistence, motivation and optimism now. We all know that
education is the key which unlocks all our potentials.
Graduation is not the end then,
it is just the beginning of the
beautiful life that lies ahead of
you. Keep on studying further.
I am so proud of you and you
should be proud of yourselves
Revd. Dr Ruby Somhlahlo-Zauka-ASF
Provincial Chaplain
considering this years academic excellence.
I would like to congratulate all
who graduated this year. Your
success is not a surprise, it is
well deserved and it will give
you a chance to spread your
wings. Take pride in how far
you have come and enjoy the
fruit of your efforts and hard
work. I am sure you see how
important is to have patience,
dedication, determination, per-
for your success, for on your
graduation, you are an achiever
on your dream. For those who
did not make it; please never,
never give up; never let go of
your dreams. God is in control of
everything. The future belongs
to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
Congratulations. Well done and good luck for your future. In isiXhosa we
say; Ntinga ntakandini.

Let us cross to
the
other
side of the
river...
Luke
8:22
(Why?),
because it
is the right
time to move
from
where we were last,
and enter into a new sitting; experience new
realms; see new possibilities; and most of all
to continue our journey with Christ.
Crossing the river was a set-up for the disci(Phuti Mashamaite-ASF Friend GP/Limpopo)
ples to face formidable challenges on
their journey but also to conquer their
greatest fears, all in the presence of
Jesus. For Jesus to sleep, was to them
a moment of loneliness a time to
face and experience all that was coming on their own. And when it was
time to call on Jesus, they did. He was
right there with them. The disciples
had fear, then they had doubt, perhaps
they even felt helpless but they werent. They awoke their courage and
called on Jesus, through Him they
then conquered their fear, they rid
themselves of doubt and they eventually reached their destination.
journey to cross to the other side of
the river. There are many boats which
are set to sail across this river of academic excellence. And all will face
gales of wind inflating the waters to
form surging waves against you. The
challenges will be mountainous but so
will the victories. The only difference
between the boats which will stand
the storm and those which wont will
be He who is in the boat with you.
He has carried you this far, do not
leave Him behind, do not sail without
him.
You (first years) are beginning this
ASF - they say it's a home away from
laid by our superiors and just focusing on
home, funnily it feels like that. To
most of us Anglicanism stems from
us as individual's and the love and need
we have for God. I was lucky enough to
home, our grandparents, parents and
siblings, you grow up or I grew up
find ASF because I had left home and
the world became my own oyster but ASF
around it and no other church felt
whole but an Anglican Church. Now
and ANSOC was there to remind me of
my home, it was there to bless me with
in all our life's there comes a time
when one has to pick their own spir-
new friends, brothers and sisters but
most of all it was there to aid my connec-
itual journey forgetting the foundation
tion with Christ. I do not know much
about being the Anglican but I know that
it's where I'm suppose to be, I know that it's home and when u get to varsity ASF helps you keep that in mind, it helps keep the light shine within you. Being a young and enthusiastic individual being part of ASF has helped highlight the importance of living for Christ but most of all it
helped me understand the value of Respect, Humanity and Faith. I could spend all day expressing what ASF has done for me and Sharing my
journey but there is not enough ink to share. All that I can say is ASF is like a pavement, it keeps you of the street.

Foundation as a coordinator of one of its life
changing programme (Youth @Work), ASF has
played a magnificent role in who and what I
have become as a person , I am able to think
critically, lead with integrity and as a servant
leader , ASF and its people have taught me skills
I apply everywhere but most importantly I use
the skills earned to give back to the church.
The Most Important thing I took -with me from
ASF is the ability to put GOD in the forefront of
my operations , I do that through prayer.

I am currently a Parishioner at St Marys-JHB and actively involved in the life of
the church, I am also involved with the JHB Anglican Environmental Initiative.
ASF served my needs as a student by providing a grooming platform , I have leant
that Christians are one in Christ, the unity of the body of Christ is created in Jesus
Christ and Gods grace sustains all ministry in Christ.
My leadership skills were developed in ASF and moving to the corporate world was
not a challenge , to the ASF of today , we are responsible for changing our own lives
today as the current generation. The Mission statement and objectives of ASF will
provide a solid ground
