Life, Purpose, Meaning
Who are you? Why do you exist? What is your reason?
By Byron Whittington
Every action has a purpose, every moment has a meaning. For every life I make contact with, I will smile. I will
be ecstatic when I see them again, because even the slightest hint of joy can pass onto another. I have lived my life as
though I am a pillar, to hold burdens of others, to keep people upright because everyone needs a person to help them get
back on their feet.
Im not sure where Im going from here, but I promise it wont be boring Quoted by David Bowie. I see this
quote not as a meaning to be different, but as a meaning to make a difference. Even the smallest of gestures may save
ones life; this is why I believe you must always smile to a stranger. You will never know what is going on in their
personal life, what burdens they may carry alone. So even if you are treated wrong by someone. That does not entail you
to retaliate, what one must do in a time like this, is ask the person why are you so angered? ask them, do you want to
talk? never respond negatively.
We, humanity, have a single drive; this drive is to push forward. But many cannot push forward as they are stuck
alone, so we need to go out of our way to help these people. Help those who are distressed and have no one to turn to. I
have taken it upon myself to save the lives of many, I have done so. I have prevented suicide, I have helped people in
danger, but Im doing this alone. I want everyone to see the world in my eyes. It is so very beautiful, yet so many people
only see pain and sorrow.
No matter who you are no matter what youve done, you matter. You deserve better. One day, I will save many
more lives; I have no idea how or why, but I will. Even though I have lost many friends, due to death or personal drama I
will never forget them, I will cherish every memory I have had, because they mattered to me. Even the friends who
betrayed me, I still remember the good times we had together.
We all need our outlets, it may be art, poetry, music, school academics, there are so many ways to relieve stress,
and once you find yours, it will make your life so much easier. Anger is not something to live by, it is okay to be angry
but it is not okay to let it out on another human being. Finding the perfect outlet of anger, stress, depression, joy, or even
love will help a person more than they believe.
During my time on this earth, as short as it has been so far, I have given myself rules to abide by, and rules I
believe others need to hear, because if people understand being kind will save ones life Than Earth will be a better
place.
Rule 1: Gestures
In life we go through troubling times, times that may make us hate the world and everyone in it. But these are the
times that are the most crucial in our lives, because they make the biggest impact on our future selves. This is why one
must always be subtle and kind even in the darkest of hours. Because for all we know, the person sitting across from you
may have lost a parent, or went through a horrible break up. That is why you greet with a smile, not a frown. That is why
you offer food to the homeless, you dont know them, but it will save their lives.
I may be a tad different from todays social norm but that does not mean I do not see what is going on around
me, I love everyone, no matter what theyve done. I always will love you, for who you are.
Rule 2: Accommodating
I see many different people in our world, from people who have been diagnosed with Down syndrome, to people
who cant even talk, even your average person needs accommodations. To me this means that I have to change a little
aspect about myself for another. Kind of like if you are talking to a child, you wouldnt curse would you? Or if you were
talking to an elder, would you disrespect them? I dont believe so. See, we all have our boundaries, and we all are
different so we treat others differently. If someone asks you not to do something, you stop. If someone asks you to
continue, you do so. Never make another uncomfortable because we all have our one life.
Rule 3: Acceptance
Growing up, moving forward you will meet many different people with difference personalities. People whove
grown up in tougher times than you, people with questionable genders, and the many different sexualities there are out
there in the world. People need to see things from our perspectives.
I am a Genderfluid Pansexual, one of the most out there kinds of people there are. And day after day I am given
weird looks, I have been frowned upon. But I never make a remark, because they simply dont understand, they dont
understand difference from the heteronormative. Which is okay, and this is why we must teach people about different
sexualities and genders. Once we learn to accept one-another for who we truly are, we will not have to hide any more, I
see no point in hiding, because everyone is loved. But today that is not the only thing being looked down upon.
There are still many racists in this world, people who believe they are simply better than another because of their
race. This is wrong, we are all human, and
we are all equal.
Those are the three rules I believe everyone should learn they dont need to live by them. But once someone learns these
rules, they may see things differently.
You are who you are and that is what you are
You cannot change who you are
But you can change how people see you
You can be the same or different
Nothing or everything
No matter whom you are
No matter what youve done
You matter in the world of chaos
This poem is about you, me, and everyone in this world. It is okay to be different; it is okay to be you. Express yourself no
matter what.
We live in a world where slandering terms are thrown out without reason, and many are insulted. More than you
believe, which is not okay. I have taken upon myself to make sure no one is uncomfortable, no one feels in danger.
Because everyone needs to feel safe in the one life we have to live. Give without taking, Love without meaning, everyone
is gorgeous, everyone is beautiful.
Every step you make towards change, change in yourself for the better or the worse will affect the lives around
you, it may not be noticeable but it does occur. Id rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not a quote
from Kurt Cobain. This is a phrase everyone needs to hear, not only because of its sense of realism but also because it
requires a person to be as unique or as similar as possible. To me this means no matter what I go through, what I see, I
will be me, and not put on a faade.
Our lives are chaotic, everyones varies. So be sincere, be genuine, be yourself as long as it does not cause harm
upon others. Sometimes spontaneity is for the good, its a good change in pace, but planning ahead may also help you in
times of distress.
Internal Distraught and finding ones self
Ive mentioned my three main rules of generosity; Ive talked about my life and many different experiences. But
what I have not mentioned is how hard it may be to follow these rules. There will be times when you need to break one of
the rules. If someone is pushing your boundary too far and you have told them to stop, it is okay to retaliate, as long as
you are not to forceful or rude.
There will be days you hate everything, or when someone angers you so much you cant control yourself. This is
when the idea of Tranquility comes into play. You need to find the perfect calm so to say, within yourself.
What do I do when I have no one to turn to? Who do I tell something extremely personal? These are both
questions I hear and think often. Even when you are alone, there are people willing to listen, to help you. It may be a
professional, or you can even rant on social media. But remember, if you rant on social media be careful, there are many
dangerous people out there who do not abide by the rules I have mentioned. Dont hate the media, become the media
Quoted by Jello Biafra. To me this is important because we need to learn not to be sheep, not to follow the crowd but
make our own crowd.
Once you find the perfect outlet, if it is a person, do not overuse them. Let them know that there is something is
wrong, but sometimes its better to keep some things to you. Boundaries are very important in a relationship, if its
romantic, sexual, or even with friends. Always learn their boundaries.
There are many forms to find ones inner self, meditation, working out; listening to music, arts, and the list is
endless because all of humanity varies in personality.
To have a happy inner self, you need to learn to do so yourself. Your body, your soul, your mind; all need to be
loved by you. Because you are important, it is sometimes extremely difficult to love your body, you may feel out of shape,
or feel like you dont fit into the medias social norm. But that is okay, because you matter.
for every shadow there is a light,
for all the sorrow there will be joy,
though our lives are TOXIC we are not alone,
you may fall into the abyss but you will be saved,
a friend or foe, family or pet,
you are not alone,
no matter what you say,
no matter what you do
I am here for you
in this TOXIC world
Everyone one day will find a person, a friend whom they can talk to truthfully. It may not be today or tomorrow.
The only way to find that one person is to be patient, in yourself and in others. Every action has a purpose, every
moment has a meaning. So no matter what happens, stay you, stay happy. This is the only life you have, cherish it.
