75 Kg DCP extinguisher

a) Description :
75 Kg DCP extinguisher consists of a trolley mounted cylinder containing finely
powdered chemicals which are expelled by means of an inert gas such as carbon
dioxide (CO2) contained in a compressed gas cartridge stored in a separate cylinder
located outside DCP cylinder.
b) Operation :
1. Uncoil the hose
2. Open CO2 Cylinder valve in anti-clock wise direction
3. Keep the nozzle in closed position till inside pressure reaches its working pressure
(normally 12 Kg./ Sq. Cm.)
4. Aim at seat of fire facing upstream of wind direction

Items to be checked
a) visual check externally for any
dents/ deformations or corrosion
reject if severe.
b) visual check for damaged threads
of shell with capreject if severe.
a) visual check internally for any
mechanical damage or corrosion.
b) visually check internal coating
and external painting of shell for
damage/ deterioration.
Measure Ultrasonic thickness of the shell
and record readings.
Hydrostatic test of the cylinder shell
along with cap and hose
assembly at 30kg/sq.cm .
Check coating thickness or carry out
repainting.
Check and record weight of cylinder and
send for refilling if loss in weight is more
than 10%.
a) Check cartridge holder for any
damage due to corrosion
b) Check port holes for elongation.
Check for elongation of holes due to
corrosion
Check soundness of the brazing/welding
of the neck ring & attachment to the shell
Check visually for any damage.
Check piercing arrangement for proper
functioning
Check that the nozzle is not clogged by
foreign material
Check for damage
Check for signs of caking and make it in
fine powdered form.
Check hose condition visually

Carry out hydrostatic testing of the hose.


Replace hose.
Inspect visually for corrosion or damage.
To be bench tested at rated test
pressure.
