Journal 1

On February 26th, the author had their first day of teaching practicum (TP) at an American private school. The principal welcomed the author and provided suggestions for their TP. The principal then took the author to their class, where the teacher and students also welcomed them. The author felt comfortable because they understood student behavior and how misbehavior is handled. The teacher also helped the author plan upcoming lessons and provided additional teaching activities. The author worked to learn students' names to address them properly when teaching. They learned the teacher's effective strategy of maintaining eye contact and having misbehaving students sit in a designated "thinker chair" to reflect on their actions.

Journal first day:

In 26 of February, my first day of TP so I went to Sama American private


school and the principal welcomed, and explained for me some suggestions
what I should do during my TP. Then she took me to class and the teacher
welcomed me and children's. I felt comfortable in that day because I knew
something about the children behavior and how the teacher deals with
misbehaving children. As well, the teacher helps me about the lessons I will
teach it in next week and she did more activity that helps me to complete
my task. There are some duties I took with me which are TP booklet, student
booklet to show my MST, note, pencil. I tried in that day to know the
student's name because when I teach them I must know their name. I learnt
something in that day which is how the teacher deals with children who
misbehave so she has eye contact and if someone misbehaves she call her
name and ask her to sit the thinker chair and ask them to sit and think what
wrong did you do. I think this strategy run because when she have eye
contact and let the student who misbehaves to sit on the thinker chair
outside circle they stop misbehave.
