I would like to convey my gratitude to Mr.Ranga Liyanage for delivering the replete
knowledge on industrial Relations and the IPM providing a better learning environment.
At the same time I aggrade the people who helped me to succeed this case study.

When studying the Hantana Tea Factory health and safety issues
it is very vital that to ensure health and safety is management effectively.

It requires employer to bring to his attention any issues or concerns that


relate to the health and safety of all employees as well as the social.

Consultation helps promote a positive health and safety culture and ensure
that everyone is giving an opportunity to influence health and safety policies
procedures.

Without cooperation between employers and employees, the chance of


managing health and safety effectively are reduced.

Conducting employee consultation

Have to set formal arrangements and should arrange to share all the
information freely. And

1. Instrument testing

Have to test all the equipment using b the factory. Portable


electrical equipment, fixed electrical equipment, machineries

2. Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments.

This is a process where we can identify the hazard and risk in


the work place or the activity. We have to collect the information and
making the judgement against the standards. By identifying all the
hazards that are present at the site and prioritizing those according to
their risk level provide the guideline for action planning.

Under this we have to follow below mentioned steps,

a. Identify the hazards,


b. Deeside who might be harmed and how.
c. Evaluate the risk.
d. Evaluate the control method.
e. Record the findings and implement them
f. Review the assessment and revise if necessary

In a strong safety culture everyone fells responsible for safety and pursues
it on daily basis.

Creating a safety culture takes time. A series of continuous process


improvement steps can be followed to create a safety culture.

2. Provide safe plant and equipment.
3. Provide information and training
4. Provide necessary supervision
5. Consult employees
6. Get employee involved action committee.

Should implement a organizational health and safety policy which includes,


organizational structure, planning activities, responsibilities, practices,
procedures, processes and resources for developing and achieving reviewing
and maintain the organizations OHS policy.

Risk should be prioritized to decide what needs attention first.

o Primary prevention Removal of circumstances causing injury.
