Plan of Action for Ending Violence Against Women

I. Be Aware- Look around me and the environment I live in. If interactions between me and

others have sexist or inappropriate actions and/or language, stand up to the perpetrators of

these behaviors. Stop violence against women in my personal community. This step can

be achieved on daily basis.

II. Promote Awareness- Create a website, vlog, YouTube channel, or other dedicated to

educating the public about violence against women. I can use blog posts, videos, PSAs,

and propaganda pertaining to the topic. This step can be achieved by June 3, 2017 (about

3 weeks from now).

III. Gather Support- Spread word of ways to help end this issue through said website, vlog,

channel, or other. Reach out to my fellow humans in order to convince them to support

organizations and/or causes that work to prevent violence against women. This step can

be achieved by June 3, 2017 (about 3 weeks from now).

IV. Protest- Gather or find people who share the same value of promoting equality and

organize or join mass protest marches or other group movements. This step can be

achieved by July 3, 2017 (about 2 months from now).

V. Influence the Government- Communicate with my local government leaders and

influence them to promote fair policies for both men and women. Also, help maintain
policies that promote equality by using your freedom of speech and vote in state and

national elections to support systems that work towards justice for all. This step can be

achieved by the May 19, 2017 (about a week from now) to November 2020 (the next

presidential election).

Benchmark:

As long as every individual dedicated to equality participates in ending violence against

women by following these steps, progress is bound to be made, whether small or large.

A benchmark that I plan to make is by the next year, by informing and protesting against

violence women, having the rates of domestic violence, femicide, rape, and sexual

harassment in the United States fall by at least fifty percent.

Evaluation:

There is only one way to examine the progress that a movement like this is making, and

that is by the change I see in those around me. Are interactions between people in my

community using less demeaning language and behavior towards women, does the media

I see demonstrate equality by not objectifying and dehumanizing female figures? When

people who care complete these steps, and furthermore, continue to utilize these steps

through their life, then the goal will have been met.
