Cour se Objectives In this course students will build upon knowledge from Digital Photo 1 and /or the Advanced
Digital Photo 3 credit course. We will continue to work with the technical aspects of using the
DSLR camera while emphasizing the use of photography for expressive and narrative purposes,
and as a vehicle of communication. We will engage in concept- based assignments focusing
on abstraction, communicating ideas as well as explore alternative photo processes. Finally,
we will work to create photo series exploring ideas of their own choosing. Emphasis will be
placed on analyzing other photographers work and seeing how photography can play an
important role in history and culture. Each student will work to develop their own artists
statement and display a body of work from their photography portfolio.
Rules & Be on time to class. (Please note that 3 unexcused latenesses equal 1 unexcused absence)
Expect ations Have assignments completed when you come to class. If you are not bringing in your photos
on a flash drive or memory card, photos MUST be emailed or shared to your google
drive BEFORE class begins.
Participate in class discussion and critiques.
Respect the ideas and artwork/photography of others.
No plagiarism will be tolerated.
Class time will be used for the discussion and research of digital photography
concepts or for the creation of, manipulation of, or reflection upon photographs.
Absolutely no food allowed in class.
*Your attendance is class essential to pass the course. Please note that after 12 unexcused
absences (studio) you will not receive credit for the year.

* This year there will be both a mid-year and final assessment that will each count for 10%
of your final average. These evaluations will either be a product that showcases what you
have learned throughout the year, or a written assessment of knowledge of camera skills,
Photoshop editing and analyzing photographs.
You will be assessed using the school wide rubrics for Writing (2) and Problem-Solving (4).
These scores will be reported on your report card.
