DSL R C AMERA SETTIN G S - P RO G RAM MOD E TROUTMAN
In the Program mode (P on the dial at the top of the DSLR), you will be able to control two
major settings important for the correct exposure in your photographs: White Balance and ISO.
       DSLR- Digital Single Lens Reflex
       Camera
In a DSLR, light travels through the lens
of the camera and then to a mirror or
mirrors that sends the image to the
       viewfinder or image sensor.
       Exposure
        The light collected by the
sensor during a single picture. It is the
lightness or darkness of a photograph.
An underexposed photograph is too dark
(exposed for too short a time)
and overexposed photo is too light (exposed for
       too long a time).
       White Balance
Setting the White Balance in your camera allows
you to set the proper color temperature of a light source, allowing the whites
in your photo to be a true white and not give a blue, orange or green color cast.
You will set the White Balance through the menu of the camera choosing Sunny,
Cloudy, Shade, Incandescent or Flourscent depending on your lighting situation.
       ISO
How sensitive film was to light in a traditional SLR. In a digital camera it is the
sensitivity of the image sensor. The lower the number, the less sensitive it is to light,
the higher the number, the more sensitive to light, but the grainier the image will be
       (visual noise).
       100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200.
Lower numbers are for daylight, higher numbers are for low-light situations.
In the Menu you can also select the Image Size and Image Quality. Make sure the
quality is FINE and the size is LARGE.
