VOL. III | ISSUE-I STUDENTS' PARTICIPA’ * Ateam comprising of Varun Mehta, Pragya Agrawal and Sakshi Jeevtani, participated at the 6th RGNUL National Moot Court Competition, 2017, with the former two members as the speakers and the latter as the researcher. The competition was organized from 31st March 2017 to 2nd April 2017 at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala. For this competition, the team cracked a memorial selection test wherein 70 memorials were submitted in total and 40 were selected. A team comprising of Akshal Agarwal, Vrindam Nagpal and Abhishar Vidyarthi, participated in the 33rd All India Bar Council Moot Court Competition held at ICFAI School of Law, Hyderabad, from 30th March to 2nd April 2017. In this team, the former two participants were the speakers, while the latter was the researcher. * A team comprising of Abhishar Vidyarthi, Sikander Hyatt Khan, Vatsal Gosalia and Natasha Kavalakkat represented MNLU Mumbai at the 15th Edition of the National Law School Debate, held from 6th to 9th April 2017. This competition was organized by National Law School of India University, Bangalore, and had the former three members as speakers with the latter member as an adjudicator. The team did fairly well as novices, and got itself introduced to the biggest debating circuit nationally, and made themselves abreast with the procedures of a 3X3 Asian Parliamentary Debate Format, A group of 4 students, namely Mitali Agarwal, Sayali Meshram, Vatsal Gosalia and Saisha Bacha represented MNLU Mumbai for the 3rd edition of PPE (Philosophy, Politics, and Economics), organized from 1°-3" June 2017 by Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research and Vrije Universitiet, Amsterdam. The students were exposed to a variety of concepts in the sessions held within the 3 days and got to interact with students from various universities, thereby getting aware of the teaching patterns & courses which exist within different universities of the world. * Ateam comprising of Kopal Garg, Rea Mehta and Vidit Harsulkar participated at the Sth Mahamana Malviya National Moot Court Competition, 2017, with the former member as Researcher and the latter two members as the speakers. Il | ISSUE -I Dr. Upamanyu Sengupta + Awarded PhD degree in English Literature by the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad on July 21, 2017. Ms. Varada Sambhus * Course Director for the German Language Course, the maiden Foreign Language Course offered at MNLU Mumbai. * Co-ordinator to facilitate academic partnership and communication between Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai and India International Institute of Democracy and Electoral Management/Election Commission of India. The Admission Committee of MNLU Mumb: 2017-18 constituted the following members: Dr. Nilamber Chhetri (Nodal Officer), Dr. Rahul Sapkal (Member), Mr. Ashok Chikte (Member), Mr. Sajid Sheikh (Member), Ms. Swatee Yogessh (Member), Ms. Hemangi Musale (Member). The committee worked throughout the semester finalizing the admission procedure. The members were active in organizing CLAT 2017 in the Mumbai region. They visited CLAT centres at Powai, Thane and Pune as centre observers and helped in conducting the examination smoothly. Further, the committee engaged in preparation of documents such as application forms, undertakings, guidelines, handbook etc. The committee actively coordinated with CLAT committee in all admission-related matters, and began with the process as and when the first indicative list was published. The process at MNLU Mumbai commenced on 16” June 2017, and the committee was overwhelmed by the response received from the students seeking admission here. Despite the hurdles created owing to the campus relocation at a new venue, the committee was able to conduct the admission process smoothly for the new students. For the Academic Year 2017-22, 60 students for B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) programme, and 18 students for LL.M. programme (specialization in Corporate Law) have been admitted respectively. PUT VU eM It OR LOOT The Library at MNLU Mumbai's Powai Campus is a fully air-conditioned, ICT-compliant computer lab across a spacious arrangement with the inclusion of precious books on diverse subjects and unlimited online access to Online Legal Resources such as SCC Online and HeinOnline for all the students and faculty. The University has also joined e-ShodhSindhu Information and Library Network Centre (an autonomous Inter-University Centre of UGC) as its Associate Member. Moreover, Koha - a popular library software - has been installed recently for library automation. The library is fully computerized, and follows a bar-coding system of circulation and issue, The university has also been fortunate enough to host a collection of valuable gratis books donated to it by Mr. N. Jayaraman, Advocate and Ex-IAS Officer. These includes classics from Philip C Jessup, J.G. Starke, Lord Halisham and Warren F. Schwrtz just to name a few. Also, Sr. Adv. Mr. V. K. Ramabhadaran donated 195 Volumes of Judgements Today (from 2000-2016) to MNLU Mumbai Library. Further, the University also received a collection of books as donation from Mr. Sumanta Sen, OSD Finance, MNLU Mumbai. The library offers the reading room services, Circulation (issue/return/re-issue) of books services, reference services and referral services. It remains open for six days a week (Mon ~Sat) from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM. The university endeavours to enhance the availability of the resources available to it and therefore is in process of procuring more e- resources for the access of the students. o—_—_—_—
