 CLASSIC SEWING
The Fairfield Button Up Shirt Pattern by Thread Theory is a classic shirt with traditional detailing but also has a
modern, moderately slim fit. The design features a slim collar with collar stand, an optional chest pocket, flat
felled seams and a yoke. The button band is drafted onto the shirtfront to make matching plaids and stripes
simple. The hem is curved so that this shirt can be worn tucked in or loose. The sleeves include tower plackets
and the option for a hidden tab so that they can be rolled and
secured at the elbow. Choose between a centre-back pleat or create
a more fitted look with long shaped darts.
The Fairfield includes regular sizing for slim to average figures and
a separate set of pieces for larger figures to accommodate a more

We caught up with Ruth Oliver from The Make Arcade to
talk about her fun kits for crafters
Tell us a bit about how The Make Arcade
came about?
I worked as a designer for a variety of
companies from luggage to ladies millinery
after finishing my fashion degree but while
on maternity leave with my youngest child, I
decided to try and do something that would
fit better with family life. The Great British
Sewing Bee had just become a huge hit so I
decided I would try and pass on my creative
knowledge and started teaching workshops.
