Lesson 7

This lesson plan aims to teach 6th grade students about how climate change personally impacts different people and regions. Students will compare interviews with their parents about experiences with climate change. They will watch a video and discuss how climate change currently and potentially affects them. Through case studies on Guatemala, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean, students will learn how climate change manifestations differ by location and identify potential individual solutions. The goal is for students to understand that climate change has various personal impacts depending on place.

lives and how it affects people around the world.
3. What was your homework? What have we been discussing? (Collect videos if any)

ways will climate change affect you in the future?
Practice Vocab cards with a partner for 5 minutes.
Small groups: Read Case Study 1 (About different regions and countries)
Explain: JigSaw: Small group swapEach group member shares Case Study with another
group.
Whole Group: Case Study review and Compare and Contrast Chart
Elaborate: Read the solutions section in your Case Study. What solution do you think you
could participate in? How?
Conclusion: Climate change affects people differently as we see in our interviews and personal
stories because it affects regions differentlyclimate change is not necessarily uniform.
Evaluate: Homework: Case Study Qs 1 and 2
