THE GROWTH CORRUPTION ACTIVITIES IN MALAYSIA

In many countries, corruption has been one of the most persistent problems hindering the
economic development of a country and increasing the poverty levels in many nations. The government
of Malaysia had introduced Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission which is to incessantly eradicate all
forms of corruption, abuse of power sand malpractices. Corruption in Malaysia is relatively low in
comparison to the rest of East Asia. One of the main sectors subject to corruption is public procurement,
with Malaysian companies sometimes being favored over foreign companies and with political
connections still playing an important role in the outcome of public tenders. Others effect of corruption
in Malaysia is reduced public trust in government increase vulnerability of the poor.Corruption that
reduces governance capacity also may inflict critical collateral damage: reduced public trust in
government institutions. A declines, research has shown that vulnerability of the poor increases as their
economic productivity is affected. Channel Methodology developed by Tavares and Wacziarg (2001) is
applied to examine the indirect relationship of how corruption can significantly impact on corruption
activities growth in Malaysia. The secondary data collected from various reliable sources such as from
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission which is Standardized, open-ended interview -the same open-
ended questions are asked to all interviewees; this approach facilitates faster interviews that can be
more easily analyzed and compared. From data analysis we get is Malaysia is the 55 corruption ranking
nation out of 175 countries in the world, according 2016 corruption perception index reported by
trnsaperency international. Corruption rank in Malaysia average 42.45 from 1995 until 2016, reaching
an all time high of 60 in 2011 and a record low of 23 in 1995. The effectiveness in eliminating corruption
activities in improvement in corruption level is mostly depends on the functions of legislation and
goverment strategies. This finding suggests that how corruption activities growth in Malaysia can also
detrimental to Malaysia economic, growth in long term and for policy wise the main concern of
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and those responsible should be reducing corruption and
increasing awareness of Malaysian to against the corruption in order to achive higest economic growth
in Malaysia.
