God was unhappy with humanity so he caused a great flood to cover the Earth, but told Noah to build an ark to save his family and two of every animal. Noah followed God's instructions and took the animals onto the ark, then the flood came and covered the whole world. After the waters receded, Noah sent out a dove and God put a rainbow in the sky as a promise to never flood the Earth again.
