Letter of Recommendation
I am pleased to introduce Viraj Shah, undergraduate student of Electrical Engineering
at IIT Roorkee. Serving as the Scientist/ Engineer at ISRO- Indian Space Research
Organisation, I had the opportunity to work first hand with Viraj Shah for around 7 weeks full
time in the summer 2013.
Though we generally select Graduate students for summer projects, Viraj was selected
for summer intern just after his first year of B.Tech. studies, because of his perception and
enthusiasm towards research. Assisting as summer trainee, Viraj worked endless hours on
"Classification of different land-covers using SAR data with Textural analysis"
. It was based on
the Image processing and remote sensing, and without having any prior knowledge on it, Viraj
self drivenly worked his way out. I watched him spending hours in library to grasp the bigger
picture and figuring out how the things work. He readily acclimatized himself with the specific
Hardware and Softwares used at the Lab (Geomatica and ENVI) and successfully carried it
throughout the period. His enthusiasm and motivation coupled with excellent communication
despite being the youngest of all, schedule management and presentation skills have proven
to be an asset to the team.
In the course of 7 weeks, his consistency, punctuality and rigor were sustained. Apart
from the sincere attitude he has towards his work, he is a very active team player. He is not
only a potential researcher, but also a nice human being. He is unquestionably an exceptional
student and I believe, given an opportunity, he will definitely be an asset to your department.
Viraj is very focused and goal oriented and knows what he wants to do in future. His
work and his eagerness for every new thing shows that he would be highly benefited with the
research environment at your University. I strongly believe his perseverance, exposure and
dedication will help him become a very good professional in due course. I wish him a great
success in his future endeavors.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dipanwita Haldar
