for Dublin City
W ha t i s i t ?
Dublin Comhairle Na nÓg is the city’s
Parliament for Young People aged 7 to 17.
Elected representatives from schools and
youth groups within the Dublin City
Council area meet every 4 to 6 weeks from
September to May and discuss issues
relevant to them.
The benefits include:-
✔ Meeting other people from the city interested in
discussing ideas and projects that affect young
people.
✔ Working with statutory and government agencies
to help them make the right decisions for you.
✔ Electing representatives to attend ‘Dáil Na nÓg’
each year.
✔ Learning about Local, National and International
government.
✔ Visiting projects that
work with young people.
Meetings usually take place in
the Council Chambers of
Dublin City Hall and are entirely
run by the young members
themselves.
How to join
Elections to the Comhairle are held every two years
from September to November and the next rounds will
be held in 2008, 2010 and 2012.
There are places for 10 representatives from each of
the five Dublin City Council areas (see map) to form a
Comhairle of fifty members.
If you are a school, youth group or project working with
young people interested in being part of Dublin
Comhairle Na nÓg please contact the Area Office from
your area (see the full list on the back page) and ask for
