Proposed Project: Student Lounge

Overview:
The student lounge is a comfortable area open to students for gathering, studying,
and relaxing between classes. It increased study space and student space availability,
designed to foster both the academic and social aspects of student life. This open-area
support individual and group-based studying, support informal learning activities, and
enable students to reconfigure a space according to their personal studying preferences.
Rationale:
This project is required in the area, taking consideration for it does not in exist in
our university. As we what we have observed in our university, students have no place to
make such assignments, paper works, and other requirements, though we have the
library but it cannot accommodate most of the students that are in need in doing such
important matter mention above. Other students go to covered court, arcade, seaside,
tennis court, and other places just for them to study, and do their school activities, but
unfortunately with these kind of places, they are easily distracted, and divert their attention
to such unrelated things. Just like in the arcade, the tables and the chairs are intended
for those customers who avail such food, but as we can see most of students used this
place as a study area, doing such paper works using laptop, and doing their assignments.
Just like in the bench, some of the students is using their laptop for encoding, though one
of the reason why laptop is invented which is by putting in the lap, students can’t take it
too long for they find it uncomfortable, considering also the heat of the sun. Since, the
school administration supports building this kind infrastructure, which the administration
can foresee, that this kind of project can benefits among the students
Purpose:
To provide a safe and comfortable space for students to socialize, study and
recreate before, during, or after the class. Implementation of service on campus.
Location: Centrally located on the campus of Mindanao State University at Naawan.
Benefits:
1. Students – Foods and beverages are allowed and it provides comfortable furniture
for students to relax on.
2. Faculty Members – We cannot say that all the faculty member inside the faculty
office, preferred in staying their respective cubicles, this serves as a new place for
them to relax and get a fresh air.
Reasons why we come up this project:
 No interaction on campus (group meeting, attend class, study and eat).
 Student activities (students on campus do not have any place just like the library
to take on non-school related activities).
 Student safety (students are forced to go off campus to have fun in environments
that maybe unsafe).
Funding: The source of funds will be get from the 25% of the annual tuition fee of each
students from our university.
