Winter IRIP Criteria for K-3

This document provides guidance for determining if Kindergarten and grades 1-3 students require a Winter IRIP. For Kindergarten, any student scoring in the "Some Risk" or "High Risk" categories on 3 EasyCBM assessments would require an IRIP. For grades 1-3, students must score below thresholds on the NWEA MAP, Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment, and comprehension within the F&P text to require an IRIP. The guidance also provides a single question to answer for the Step 3 IRIP regarding student progress and response to intervention.

STEP 3 IRIP GUIDANCE
IRIP Step 3 is only 1 question (Yeah!). You are only providing an update on your
student’s progress monitoring results.

If all of the data from the Step 1 Assessment and Step 2 Assessments have stayed the
same, there is no need to change anything.

Here is the 1 question to answer for Step 3:

How has the student responded to their intervention?

Enter the number below into the Step 3 IRIP assessment.
Winter

1 Adequate progress was made: intervention was successful in meeting student’s needs.
Intervention is no longer necessary.

2 Adequate progress was made: intervention was successful for meeting student’s need in
this skill area. Intervention will be provided in another skill area.

3 Some progress was made: intervention was somewhat successful in meeting student’s
needs. Student will continue intervention.

4 Some progress was made: intervention was somewhat successful in meeting student’s
needs. Student will continue intervention with the addition of an alternative intervention
provided.

5 Adequate progress was not made: intervention was not successful in meeting student’s
needs. Team will revise the intervention plan
