Tools Starters PDF

This document provides a chart showing the recommended NEMA starter sizes for electric motors of various horsepower ratings and voltages. The starter size increases with higher motor horsepower or voltage. A note indicates the chart has been revised to require a Size 2 starter for 7.5 HP motors at 208VAC instead of Size 1, due to startup requirements for these motors in press applications.

Note: this chart has been revised to require a Size 2 starter for 7.5 HP @208VAC. Press controls
built for 7.5HP main flywheel motors @208VAC will typically have a 60 Amp MC Switch.
This is a departure from the NEMA tables, but is typically needed due to the startup requirements
for these motors in press applications.
