Apology for Missing Departure

John Cagaanan wrote a letter of apology for being 17 minutes late to the scheduled departure time for a convention trip. He explains that he was shopping for a birthday gift for his sister and lost track of time. While he recognizes the lateness disrupted plans and was an imprudent decision, he promises to be more mindful of schedules going forward as a participant. He sincerely apologizes for his actions.

Dear Professor Ibrahim:

Please accept this letter of explanation and fervent apology for my absence
during the three-pm departure roll-call on Sunday, February 25th, for the
particularly odious reason that I arrived at the Dynasty Court Hotel
seventeen minutes past the designated time.

At exactly ten minutes to three, I was still at Ayala Centrio, overought with
looking for a hoodie in a pastel color for my fifthteen-year old sister, Ivy,
whom I had promised a gift for her forthcoming birthday. Before this, my
friends and I had a celebratory lunch at Dong Juan’s which ended at
two-fifteen pm, after which we separated to do our different shopping
errands. By the time I had to purchase the hoodie, I was in complete
quandary since I was well aware of the little time left until the appointment
at the hotel. However, I had hastily decided to risk the cost and
consequence of arriving behind schedule for the sake and benefit of buying
the item.

I admit that it was an incredibly imprudent and unwise decision, for not only
had I disrupted the convenience of our teacher-chaperones, but my
batchmates' and the transportation service vehicle’s as well. It is imperative
that as a delegate and a particpant in a convention, one has to give heed
and respect the schedules that are imposed by the batch representative
and chaperones, but on the 25th of February - departure date, I have failed
miserably to execute this basic courtesy. Owing to this, I truly am so, so
sorry.

Hoping for your kind consideration.

Sincerely,

John Hilbert S. Cagaanan
