The Bermuda Triangle: Star Tiger

The Bermuda Triangle is a mysterious region in the Atlantic Ocean where many ships and planes have disappeared. In 1918, the ship Cyclops carrying a crew of 109 vanished without a trace in the Triangle. In 1945, Flight 19, consisting of 5 US Navy bombers, disappeared over the Triangle while reporting strange conditions that made it impossible to navigate. Underwater phenomena like waterspouts, whirlpools, and deep water eddies may be responsible for some disappearances by capsizing or sinking vessels in the region.

THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE

INTRODUCTION

The Bermuda Triangle is a strange and mysterious place in the

southern Atlantic Ocean. It is roughly the shape of a triangle and it is said to have
sucked planes and boats into its dark and murky waters. No one knows what
happened to the planes and boats. When some enter the waters of the triangle
they disappear forever.

STAR TIGER
In January, 1948, a British airliner called,"Star Tiger" was coming to the end of a
routine flight from Azores to Bermuda. The plane was expected to arrive on time,
but it didn't arrive at all. A search was being made to look for survivers or
wreckage, when a radio station picked up a faint message supposedly to be from
the aircraft.

Cyclops
In March 1918, a ship with the length of 504 feet and weighing 14,500 tons
disappeared in the Atlantic Ocean. It was carrying a full cargo of coal and a crew
of 109.

It was moving from Barbados to Norfolk, Virginia, to transport coal for the Navy.
Its voyage took it right through the Bermuda Triangle.

On March 13th Cyclops was reported missing in from Norfolk. Norfolk had
reported no trouble from the Cyclops and their radio. Thousands of miles of sea
were searched. No trace of the ship was ever found.

After President Woodrow read the article on the missing ship he recalled, "Only
God and the sea know what happened to the great ship."

Since America was at war with Germany at the time, people believed that the ship
was torpedoed but no sign of wreckage was ever found.
THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE
FLIGHT 19

In January, 1945, five U.S. Navy Bombers vanished over the Bermuda Triangle. At
3:45 PM , the flight leader Lieutenant Charles C. Taylor, radioed the control tower.

"Calling tower. This is an emergency . We seem to be off course. We can not see
land ... repeat ... we can not see land ."

"What is your position ?," the tower radioed back.

"We're not sure of our position. We can not be sure just where we are. We seem to
be lost."

"Assume bearing due west."

"We don't know which way is west. Everything is wrong... strange. We can't be
sure just where we are. We are not sure of any direction. Even the ocean doesn't
look as it should."

Lieutenant Robert Cox, senior flight instructer at Fort Lauderdale, had been
preparing to land, when he over heard the messages and he thought he knew where
Flight 19 was. He radioed,"Flight 19 what is your alttitude? I'll fly south to meet
you."

Taylor should have welcomed any assistance, but for a few minutes he was silent
before he cried, "Don't come after me! They look like ...." After that there was
silence.

The time was 4:30 p.m. As the last message was being received, a huge Martin
Mariner sea plane was sent on a rescue mission heard the bombers last estimated
position. The mariner plane sent one message and then followed the bombers' into
the oblivian. Within a few hours six Navel Aircrafts had vanished.

WATERSPOUTS AND WHIRLPOOLS
Tiny whirlpools can be seen almost everywhere. They can be seen in streams,
alongside the curbs of streets, and in the gullys.

Waterspouts have been called wet tornados, but they form during different
atmospheric conditions. In the summer parts of ocean can become very hot. The
hot air above parts of ocean rises. It lifts a huge amount of water with it into the
cooler part of the air. In the air it forms a massive cloud system. Hot air usually
starts spinning. It spins so fast that it can form a vertex or a funnel going down
from the cloud. If the funnel touches the surface of the water it whips up spray and
a waterspout is created. The whirling winds of a waterspout can reach the speed of
up to 150 miles per hour. A waterspout may only last ten minutes, but its force can
rip apart a small ship, or a plane.

A man named Dr. Swallow discovered a secret about whirlpools. In his experiment
Dr. Swallow found underwater whirlpools. These whirlpools have been known as
"Deep Water Eddies!"

DEEP WATER EDDIES

One day in 1944 a certain ship named the Cacios Trader was towing the Wild
Goose, a fishing boat. The two boats were over a very deep part of the ocean near
the Bahama Islands. A quote from the story was "Something suddenly went wrong.
The fishing boat pitched upwards. Then it put it's nose down. Finally it vanished
beneath the water. The crew of the Cacios Trader quickly cut the tow line before
this strange force could pull their own ship under." Luckily there was a
survivor, his name was Joe Talley and was captain of the fishing boat. No one else
was on board. The crew of the Cacios Trader said the Wild Goose, "looked as
though it had been caught in a whirlpool.

They might have been right, because whirlpools come in many different shapes and
sizes. They also come in many different energy levels.

Dr. J. Swallow discovered a kind of underwater whirlpool. Those underwater

whirlpools were called "Deep Water Eddies."

THE GULF STREAM

THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE
The Gulf Stream is an area near the Bermuda Triangle. The Gulf Stream carries
away debris from an accident site. This might have happened during several
dissaperence cases, but not all of them. This is an especially treacherous area that
forms a stream and flows past Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North
Carolina. The Gulf Stream is approximately 2,100 feet deep .
WHITE WATER
The airmen of flight 19 mentioned seeing White Water. Columbus also, "Noted
curious glowing streaks of "White Water." White Water are mysterious patches of
light and foam.

YELLOW HAZE
The Yellow Haze is a strange and eerie force that cannot be explained. The Yellow
Haze is like a thick, yellow fog that is so dense you can see nothing around you.
Somebody said while visiting the Triangle, "We saw the haze, and we have seen
nothing like it... since we visited the Triangle." The Yellow Haze is more than fog,
heavier than humidity, what kind of magnetic force is in the Haze? Can this
contribute to the loss of planes and ships?

CONCLUSION
There are more nine places like this Bermuda Triangle in this world. There is
always some mysteries behind the nature . so lets not to play with that nature . If
we try to find that means loss is for the human beings only .
