Wherever in The Streets You Walk Upon: Kahit Saan Sa Mga Daang Nilalakaran Mo

The poem describes a poet who finds inspiration in nature and music. He is likened to a tree nourished by a river, bearing fruit that satisfies the hungry heart. He is also compared to a nightingale that soothes the spirit with beautiful melodies. The poet is depicted as a brilliant lamp that cannot be conquered by darkness or extinguished by the wind. He is said to be filled with the oil of love and lit by the god of music.

Kahit Saan

Wherever
sa mga daang nilalakaran mo
in the streets you walk upon

damo
grass

puting bulaklak
white flower

nahihiyang tumunghay sa iyo

embarrassed to raise its face towards you

Irog, iya’y ako!

Beloved, that would be me!

Kung may isang ibong

If there is a bird

tuwing takipsilim
whenever night approaches

ikaw’y awitan sa gabing malalim

sing to you in the deep night

isang paruparo ang iyong nakita

a butterfly you see

Iya’y ako, Sinta!

That’s me, Love!
Ang Makata

Siya’y isang punong dinidilig

ng ilog ng Karilagan, may
Bungang asam ng pusong gutom;
Siya’y isang ruisinyor,
inaaliw sa magaganda n’yang awit
Diwang tigib ng hapis;
...
Siya’y isang maningning na ilawan,
di-madaig ng karimlan
At di-mapatay ng hangin. Sinidlan ng
Langis ni Ishtar ng Pagsinta,
at sinindihan ni Apolo ng Musika.

The Poet

He is a tree watered by the River of Beauty, bearing

Fruit which the hungry heart craves;
He is a nightingale, soothing the depressed
Spirit with his beautiful melodies;
...
He is a brilliant lamp, unconquered by darkness
And inextinguishable by the wind. It is filled with
Oil by star of Love, and lighted by Apollon of Music.
"Love Story" And I said...

We were both young when I first saw you. Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.

I close my eyes and the flashback starts: I'll be waiting; all that's left to do is run.

I'm standing there on a balcony in summer air. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess.

It's a love story, baby, just say "Yes".

See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns.

See you make your way through the crowd Romeo, save me. They're trying to tell me how to feel.

And say, "Hello." This love is difficult but it's real.

Little did I know... Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess.

It's a love story, baby, just say "Yes".

That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles,

And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet." Oh, oh, oh.

And I was crying on the staircase

Begging you, "Please don't go." I got tired of waiting

And I said... Wondering if you were ever coming around.

My faith in you was fading

Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone. When I met you on the outskirts of town.

I'll be waiting; all that's left to do is run. And I said...

You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess,

It's a love story, baby, just say "Yes". Romeo, save me. I've been feeling so alone.

I keep waiting for you, but you never come.

So I sneak out to the garden to see you. Is this in my head? I don't know what to think.

We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said...

So close your eyes,

Escape this town for a little while. Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone.

Oh, oh. I love you, and that's all I really know.

I talked to your dad – go pick out a white dress

'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter, It's a love story, baby, just say "Yes".

And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet."

But you were everything to me,

I was begging you, "Please don't go."
