Course Objective:
This course gives a thorough knowledge of wire-Line communications. It starts from
an understanding/ working of the telephone set found on the customer premises. It
includes characteristics of the Analog Local Loop, Which connects the customer
premises to the Telco’s. An understanding of the exchanges found in different Telco’s
Premises, Station signaling and interoffice signaling of which CCITT signaling system
no. 7 (SS7) is the studied standard.

The second portion of this course includes techniques used for conversion of analog
voice into digitized voice for digital telephony, the digital T-carriers and E-Carriers and
their architectures.
