HOTCAKES with Encore Trim
Pinwheel Baby Blanket
Materials: 1 – 200g cake of Hot Cakes shown in color 9 Jewel Mix; 1—100g ball Encore
Worsted shown in color 157.
Needles: Size US 8- you will need doublepoints, 24” circular and 32” circular; stitch marker.
Size: Approx 31” in diameter.
Gauge: 18 sts = 4” over st st.
Begin:
Cast on 5 sts, divide onto the 3 doublepoints, and knit around. Place a marker to mark the
beginning of the round.
Begin increasing pattern: Change to circular needle when needed.
Round 1: Knit around, increasing in each st by working kfb in each st (10 sts).
Abbreviations: K = knit, yo = yarn over, st(s) = stitch(es).

Round 2: Knit around.
Round 3: *(K1, yo); repeat from * around. (20 sts).
Round 4: Knit around.
Round 5: *(K2, yo); repeat from * around. (30 sts).
Round 6: Knit around.
Round 7: *(K3, yo); repeat from * around (40 sts).* around to marker.
Round 8: Knit around.
Continue increasing by adding a stitch in each section- every other round. There are 10 sections,
10 sts added on every odd numbered round. When the blanket has reached the desired diameter,
or almost out of yarn, Change to the Encore solid and begin working in garter st (purl 1 round,
knit 1 round, repeat.) as follows: Work the last 12 rounds in garter st- purling the even numbered
rounds, and increasing only every other odd numbered round. Bind off loosely knitwise.
Weave in all ends. Wet block to flatten and shape. Expect the border to ruffle a little.
