INTRODUCTION
Mental Health (MH) Definition by World Health Organisation
State of well-being

Status of Mental Illnesses in India
In 2017, 19.73 crore people required care
4.57 crore people had depression disorders
2443 disability adjusted life years per 100000 population
21.1 suicides per 100000 population
Situation exacerbated due to COVID-19
Disruption of routines, education, recreation, social circles
People witnessed isolation, suffering, uncertainty, anger, fear
Mass unemployment & financial uncertainties
If left untreated, entire generation may end up having
depression, substance abuse etc
