BOOK OF GENESIS
 It is the 1st book in the Bible
 Central creation story
 ​Talks about the Origin of
everything
1ST ACCOUNT
CREATION STORY
 Before God began to create, the entire
world was void but, there was a body of
water over which the spirit of God was
moving. Then God spoke and the creation
began.
1ST DAY
 The first thing that was created was light.
 Then God separated the light from the darkness and
called it Day and named the darkness Night.

2ND DAY​
 The firmament heavens (Sky & Water) were created ​
 God separated the water above the earth from the water
on the earth, placing the sky between the two​
3RD DAY
 Dry land, seas and vegetation were created

4TH DAY​
 God created the sun, moon and the stars
 Made to divide day and night

5TH DAY​
 God created the water and sky animals​
6TH DAY​
 God made the land animals
 Gave life to humankind
 Crafted man in His image and likeness

Adam - name which God the Father used to refer to


men and women both male and female ; which
means "man" or "humanity"
7TH DAY​
 God rested
2ND ACCOUNT
CREATION STORY
 The second creation story started that the
world was not void before God created
it. The land was already in existence but
it was barren and a waste.
2ND CREATION STORY

Man - first thing that God created according


to this story

 When God observed that there was nobody around


to cultivate the land, He then created man from the
dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the
breath of life.
2ND CREATION STORY
Garden of Eden

 After the creation of man, the planting of


the garden of Eden and vegetative plants
was done.
 Terrestrial paradise
 Beautiful garden containing the tree of
life
 Biblical earthly paradise inhabited by
Adam and Eve, prior to their expulsion
for disobeying the commands of God
2ND CREATION STORY
River
 After the Garden of Eden, God
caused a river to flow out of
Eden to water it. The river
was parted into four different
rivers which were Pishon,
Gihon, Tigris and Euphrates.
THE 4 RIVERS
PISHON
 a source river flows out to water the Garden
of Eden
 described as encircling "the entire land of
Havilah where is gold; bdellium and onyx
stone."

GIHON
 the second river of Eden,
surrounding the whole land of Cush
or Ethiopia
TIGRIS
 a long river in western Asia
 one of the two great rivers of the ancient
region of Mesopotamia

EUPHRATES
 also one of the two great rivers
 place of fertility and abundance
 symbol of God’s power over the
natural world that he has created
“ God’s plan was for man to continue His creative work.

 God then command man to eat of the fruits of every tree in the
garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

 God asked Adam to name the animals HE created. After the


naming of the animals by Adams, God saw that Adam himself


needed a helper fit for him
2ND CREATION STORY
Eve
 “This at last is bone of my bones and
flesh of my flesh; she shall be called
woman because she was taken out of
man”.
 They were joined together as husband
and wife and both of them were naked
without being ashamed.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE
CREATION STORIES
 In the creation stories, God is seen as an all-powerful
being who by His power created the entire world and
everything that is in it.
 Man was special to God because He created him in His
own image after His likeness.
 Man was also ordained by God to take care of other
thing that He created.
 Creation reveals what God is like and how He acts.
 Creation gives Jesus the authority to forgive sin.
PURPOSE OF THE
CREATION STORIES
 to provide a place for the sons and daughters of
God to dwell in mortality and prove themselves
worthy, through keeping the commandments, to
return to the presence of God from whence they
came.
