PRAYER
OFFERING
Block 1, Sem 1, A.Y. 2021-2022
MR. ALEJO J. MORADA – Professor| alejo.morada@spus.edu.ph
Opening Prayer
Most Holy Father, I offer You my actions, my
joys and my pains, together with those of my
brethren through Your Son, Jesus, Our Lord.
In the Holy Spirit we shall be witnesses to
Your love today. With our Lady, in the Church,
we pray that the world may welcome Your
light. We pray You for the Church,
that she may receive from the Holy Spirit the
grace and strength to reform herself in the
light of the Gospel. Amen
PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of Your love. Send
forth Your Spirit and they shall be created.
And You shall renew the face of the earth.
LET US PRAY:
O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit did
instruct the heart of the faithful, grant that by
the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise
and ever rejoice in His consolation. Through
Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Gospel according to Matthew (23:27-32)
Jesus said, “Woe to you, scribes and
Pharisees, you hypocrites. You are like
whitewashed tombs, which appear beautiful on
the outside, but inside are full of dead men's
bones and every kind of filth.
Even so, on the outside you appear righteous,
but inside you are filled with hypocrisy and
evildoing.
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You build the
tombs of the prophets and adorn the memorials of the righteous,
and you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we
would not have joined them in shedding the prophets' blood.'
Thus you bear witness against yourselves that you are the
children of those who murdered the prophets;
now fill up what your ancestors measured out!"
Gospel Reflection:
LIKE WHITEWASHED TOMBS. The Law of Moses
declares that everyone who in the open country
touches a dead person, or who touches a human
bone or grave, is rendered unclean, and needs to be
ritually purified (Nm 19:16). It was then Jewish
practice to whitewash tombs so that pilgrims to the
Jerusalem Temple would avoid them so as not to be
rendered unclean inadvertently and be barred from
temple worship.
Jesus points to the scribes and
Pharisees’ concern for the external rather
than the internal. Before this, he points out
that they take care of cleaning the outside of
the cup and dish, but neglect the dirt inside
the cup that represents plunder and
indulgences that pollute the human person.
Hypocrisy rears its ugly head when there
is discrepancy and contradiction between the
inner and the outer person, between hearts
and lips, between words and deeds. Only
when the person acts consistently can he
truly be authentic.

Revelation
HOW GOD REVEALS HIMSELF?
MR. ALEJO J. MORADA – Professor| alejo.morada@spus.edu.ph
REVELATION
(lat. revelatio) (Gk. Apokalypsis) –removal of the veil
in general can be described as the process by
which God personally manifests and
communicates to us the divine SELF and the
designs of the divine will for our salvation (DV,
no.6)

1.Creation
“The heavens declare the glory of God…” (Psalm 19:1) We see
a tiny glimpse of God’s glory in the splendor of the sky, in the
roaring of the waves and in the majesty of the morning sun.
God shows Himself in the natural signs of the beauty and
abundance of our natural resources
MR. ALEJO J. MORADA – Professor| alejo.morada@spus.edu.ph
2. Scriptures through Salvation History
The “natural signs” were disfigured by sin so God chose to
reveal Himself in a second, more intimate way, by entering
into the history of the human race He had created. (CFC, 67)
The Bible records the words and deeds of God when He
entered into a special covenant relationship with His chosen
People. (Ex.29:45)
MR. ALEJO J. MORADA – Professor| alejo.morada@spus.edu.ph
3. Jesus Christ
- “completed and perfected God’s revelation by words and
works, signs and miracles, and above all by his death and
glorious resurrection from the dead.” (DV, #14).
Thus, Jesus is the unique, irrevocable, and definitive
revelation of God. His life, works and deeds manifested
everything that the Father wants to reveal.
MR. ALEJO J. MORADA – Professor| alejo.morada@spus.edu.ph
4. Church
God continues to manifest Himself today through the Holy
Spirit in the Church. After Ascension of Jesus to the Father,
the disciples whom Jesus had formed to be the muscles of
His Church started to preach the Good News by the power of
the Holy Spirit sent upon them at Pentecost. Jesus continues
to be present to the world today through and in His Church.

REFLECTION:
What does the story of creation teach us
about God and His creation?
MR. ALEJO J. MORADA – Professor| alejo.morada@spus.edu.ph
What did God mean when He said to human
beings, “have dominion over all…”?
MR. ALEJO J. MORADA – Professor| alejo.morada@spus.edu.ph
Man is the steward of God’s Creation

Short Story: (excepted from “The Heart of the
Enlightenment” by: Anthony de Mello, S.J.,)
MR. ALEJO J. MORADA – Professor| alejo.morada@spus.edu.ph
“There was once a man who was busy building a home
for himself. He wanted it to be the nicest, coziest home in
the world. Someone came to him to ask for help because
the world was on fire. But it was his home he was
interested in, not the world. When he finally finished his
home, he found he did not have a planet to put it on.”
MR. ALEJO J. MORADA – Professor| alejo.morada@spus.edu.ph
1. What was happening to the world that the man who was building his
home was asked to help/ Did he help?
2. What happened to the world because of the man’s refusal to help? What
happened to the man’s house?
