Cable

Utp cable

type of copper cabling used in telephone wiring and local area networks (LANs)
cable is up to four twisted pairs of copper wires enclosed in a protective plastic cover
The two individual wires in a single pair are twisted around each other.
Cat 5& cat5e & cat 6
• CAT5: Used in Ethernet-based LANs, CAT5 contains two twisted pairs.
It supports 100 Mbps for up to 100 meters.
• CAT5e: Used in Ethernet-based LANs, CAT5e contains four twisted
pairs. It supports 1 Gbps for 100 meters.
• CAT6: Used in Ethernet-based LANs and data center networks, CAT6
contains four tightly wound twisted pairs. It supports 1 Gbps for up to
100 meters and 10 Gbps for up to 50 meters.

Straight Through

• he straight through is the most common type and is used to connect

computers to hubs or switches. used to connect two devices of the
Different type
crossover cable

• It is most often used to connect two devices of the same type, e.g.
two computers (via their network interface controllers) or two
switches to each other.

Fiper optical
• Fiber optics, or optical fiber, refers to the technology that transmits
information as light pulses along a glass or plastic fiber. They're
designed for long-distance, high-performance data networking, and
telecommunications. Compared to wired cables, fiber optic cables
provide higher bandwidth and Fiber optics support a higher capacity.
• The amount of network bandwidth a fiber cable can carry easily
exceeds that of a copper cable with similar thickness. Fiber cables
rated at 10 Gbps, 40 Gbps, and 100 Gbps are standard.transmit data
over longer distances.

coaxial cables

form of signal transmission cable that is used to pass electrical signals between
devices, systems, or components
Auto MDI-X

• describes the interface (both physical and electrical/optical) in a

computer network from a physical layer implementation to the
physical medium used to carry the transmission.
