o One of the most common manifestations of
health issues is pain.
o When we describe what hurts, we usually
use possessive adjectives.
o Example:
● “I twisted my ankle, it hurts.”
● “My back is killing me.”
● “My sister broke her arm. She was in a lot of pain.!
Hurt, hurt & pain
Read the following sentences and pay attention to the way the
verb “hurt” is used.
● I hurt my back when I was working in the garden.
● Jack hurt his arm when he was lifting weights at the gym.

also known as decay or carious
lesions.
• One cause of decay is the
Streptococcus mutans bacteria.
