3. Quy tắc thêm “ed” vào sau động từ có quy tắc.
- Hầu hết các động từ theo quy tắc được thêm trực tiếp đuôi -ed vào
cuối.
Ví dụ: work - worked (làm việc)
- Với những động từ kết thúc bằng e ta chỉ việc thêm d.
Ví dụ: dance - danced (nhảy)
- Với những động từ kết thúc bằng phụ âm + y ta đổi y thành i rồi mới
thêm -ed.
Ví dụ: study - studied (học hành)
- Với những động từ 1 âm tiết kết thúc bằng phụ âm + nguyên âm + phụ
âm, ta gấp đôi phụ âm cuối trước khi thêm -ed.
Ví dụ: plan - planned (dự định)
- Với những động từ có nhiều hơn 1 âm tiết, âm tiết cuối cùng kết thúc
