AGRICULTURE IN THE

PHILLIPINES
BY; SHIELA MARIE MALEM
WHAT IS AGRICULTURE?

Agriculture is the practice of cultivating plants and raising

animals for human use. It involves activities such as
planting, nurturing, and harvesting crops, as well as
breeding, feeding, and caring for livestock. Agriculture is
essential for providing food, fiber, and other resources that
sustain human life. Despite facing challenges like climate
change and food security, agriculture continues to evolve
through innovation and sustainable practices to meet the
needs of a growing global population.
THE PHILIPPINES AGRICULTURE

Due to its terrain and tropical climate

condition, farming and fisheries have been the
largest agricultural sub-sectors in the
Philippines. Crop production, particularly of
sugarcane, palay or rice, coconut, and bananas
were among the highest nationwide and were
also among the top export products.

wide array of uses, coconut is mainly
exported as products like virgin coconut

Davao Region was the top banana

producer with 868.19 thousand metric

total production in this quarter. This was
followed by Northern Mindanao with
